The scene is set for the start of the fourth edition of the Perini Navi Cup taking place in Porto Cervo from 1st to 4th September. Eighteen Perini Navi sailing yachts have gathered in Porto Cervo for the event which is open only to yachts built by the renowned Viareggio shipyard. Organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, the regatta combines spectacular sailing with an exclusive rendezvous for the owners that make up the “Perini family”. Fleet racing will take place over three days with courses of up to 40 miles set against the crystalline waters and granite islands and outcrops of the La Maddalena archipelago.
The fleet of superyachts will include the newly launched 56-metre ketch Fidelis: designed in collaboration with Ron Holland, Fidelis is the 51st hull designed and built by the Perini Navi shipyard which was founded at the beginning of the 80s by Fabio Perini. Perini yachts are unmistakeable thanks to the yard’s renowned use of cutting edge technology coupled with an uncompromising dedication to elegance and functional luxury. The sailing giants assembled in Porto Cervo will include charter yacht Salute, whose 75 metre mast – the tallest aluminium mast in the world – was designed and engineered by Perini Navi’s Mast Division in accordance with the latest trends in mast weight optimisation.
Another star of the fleet will be the largest Perini Navi sailing yacht in the world, the 88 metre Maltese Falcon charter yacht, winner of the last two editions of the Perini Navi Cup. Owners, guests and crews will be kept busy after racing on Friday 2nd, Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th September with a complete social programme that includes a Pommery champagne reception, a cocktail competition between participating yachts, the Rolex gala dinner and the Quadrivio regatta party at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda’s Clubhouse. Marina Yachting, Rolex, Axa Yachting Solutions, Quadrivio Sgr, Champagne Pommery, Icet, Sonus Faber, Calvisius, Yacht Capital and Audi are supporters of the regatta.
Following the Perini Navi Cup the YCCS sporting calendar continues in Porto Cervo with the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup (5-10 September), the Veteran Big Boat Rally (12-15 September) and the Audi TP52 World Championship (2-8 October). The YCCS will then organize the Transatlantic Superyacht Regatta departing from Tenerife in the Canaries on 21st November and arriving at the Club’s new winter base in Virgin Gorda in December.
