The PlanetSolar project was a guest of honour at the largest port festival in the world, and set up their Village on the banks of the River Elbe to make its debut with the public. There were around 200’000 spectators at the event, who were able to admire the futuristic lines of the largest solar-powered catamaran in the world and find out more about the PlanetSolar project.
The PlanetSolar team also announced that the PlanetSolar book has been published. It is a richly illustrated album detailing the genesis of the project, the basic concept and its progression. The book also details the creation and construction of the solar powered catamaran along with information on its launching. The book is written in French, German and English and is now available for sale.
Plantesolar, the largest solar-powered catamaran in the world was launched on the 31st of March and navigated for the first time at the beginning of May off Kiel. The solar powered catamaran PLANETSOLAR’s test phase should last until the end of the summer and will then prepare to set sail on its maiden voyage to circumnavigate the globe in April 2011.
