Poralu Marine is developing a marina project loacted west of Istanbul on the sea of Marmara.

The development, Istanbul E-Marina, is the marina systems engineer company’s second marina project in Turkey and is part of a larger residential development. The port infrastructure will eventually have 765 moorings intended for residential use with 10 larger berths designed specifically for superyachts.

Poralu Marine began its installation of the project in mid-May with the delivery and installation of the 609 moorings which comprise phase one of the development. The remaining 156 moorings are due to be delivered in a second phase of construction. The system has a run of 1584 metres of pontoons, which will incorporate 11 bridges and Poralu Marine hopes to see the first vessels moored in Istanbul E-Marina from the start of the
2011 season.

The marina occupies a strategic position on the Sea of Marmara, sitting between Europe and Asia, bordered to the north and south by Turkey and with links to the Black and Aegean seas.

Poralu Marine feels this second Turkish contract has given the company the opportunity to grow in what it sees as a fast-expanding market. Known for its innovative use of aluminium in the construction of pontoons, Poralu Marine has expanded its services to offer bridges, catwalks and landing stages as well as diving rafts, leisure pontoons and private jetties.

The company recently achieved ISO 9001-2008 certification for its quality management system; a certification which attests to a company’s ability to ensure customer satisfaction as well as display continuous improvement in its processes. Poralu Marine cites its application of sound practices as the reason behind its increased efficiency and competitiveness in the market.

“Gaining ISO 9001 certification is the culmination of a project to which everybody in the company has contributed,” says Laurent Gasiglia, Poralu Marine general manager. “We provide our customers with an effective response which also encapsulates an approach that always respects a sustainable approach towards the environment. This certification is an integral part of Poralu Marine’s efforts to promote sustainable development in its business. In addition, this drive to strive for excellence encourages all our employees to focus on the group’s values which are commitment and involvement every day.”

PORALU MARINE acquires CEI

Poralu Marine, a major world player in the market for top of the range port facilities, has announced the acquisition of CEI, a company which specialises in maritime and industrial systems.Encouraged by various partnerships conducted successfully over the years and strong ties between both companies, Poralu Marine has just acquired CEI’s business interests.

The acquisition of CEI is entirely consistent with the strategy pursued by Poralu Marine, which is intending to extend its portfolio to supplementary and associated activities, in order to consolidate its position as a supplier of port systems worldwide.

Founded in 1991, CEI has swiftly established itself as the French leader in the effluent treatment sector. Its core business is based on 4 key areas: port cleaning, pumping stations, effluent treatment and waste recovery units.

The company designs and manufactures products such as fixed or mobile pumps, distribution terminals, washing stations, hydrocarbon separators, used battery banks or oil recovery units, etc.

Designed in heavy duty stainless steel, CEI systems are particularly strong – they are almost indestructible and very tough – which is perfectly suited to the environments in which they are used. One of the major strengths of CEI’s products is that they are totally compatible with the environmental issues and imperatives faced by marinas. This is why marina operators, ever more aware of the environmental quality of their ports, are finding an effective solution for better effluent and waste management in the CEI product portfolio.

Under this transfer, all CEI’s stock (previously based at Nogent-le-Phaye in the ‘Eure et Loire’ district) has been relocated to Poralu Marine’s headquarters at Port (01).

Because the company has an established business reputation, the CEI brand name has been retained. Research and Development, together with product design, will in future be undertaken by Poralu Marine, while relying on the expertise of the two employees who have moved from CEI. The complementary interests of Poralu Marine’s and CEI’s businesses promises numerous commercial synergies for the future.

A PORALU MARINE Pontoon Jetty

With this external growth, Poralu Marine has gained a new range of products and improved its services portfolio, which now extends from design, manufacture, installation and marketing to maintenance and will in future cover 3 business sectors: yachting products, equipment and services. After setting up Poralu Marine Services, with the signature of a joint venture agreement with Nautiscaphe, experts in underwater anchoring systems, CEI will strengthen Poralu Marine’s international approach as a top of the range equipment supplier.

An example of a CEI construction is the nstallation of a triple pump at Saint-Cast-Le-Guildo CEI pumps can be integrated and adapted at most sites, because they are designed to be just as useful at the smallest river stop as at a marina with moorings for very large boats. These systems fulfil the requirements for boats fitted with a waste water retention tank and therefore comply with the NF ISO 8099 and ISO 4567 standards.

Further orders for pumping system installations are pending both on the littoral (Dieppe) and along the waterways (Draveil sur la Seine to the south of Paris, Castelnaudary along the canal du Midi) and even on inland waters such as the Lac du Der in Champagne.

8,000 references over the five continents have lifted Poralu Marine into the ranks of the leading international companies in the field of top of the range pontoons and harbour facilities.

Poralu Marine is a leading player on the international stage, with two production units in France and in Canada (Montreal), a subsidiary in Australia, sales offices in Germany, Italy, Spain, England and in China and a network of agents working the key international markets.

Founded in 1982, Poralu Marine is a systems integrator for marinas, which devotes its work to developing unique solutions and sailing facilities, in phase with its customers’ economic, social and environmental imperatives.

Adventurous by nature, Poralu Marine was one of the first in its field to use aluminium as the exclusive structure for pontoons. With the backing of a R&D department at the forefront of technology, Poralu Marine now offers an extensive range of products: diving rafts, leisure pontoons, private jetties, etc. …, bridges, catwalks, landing stages, etc.

Based in Port (01) – France (head office), Poralu Marine has a workforce of 120 and posted consolidated sales for FY 2008/2009 of 19 M€, of which 70% came from international trade.

New Marina Development

Poralu Marine has also earlier signed contracts for three marinas in the Netherlands Antilles, in the United States and in Quebec Port (01), 17 March 2010 – Poralu Marine, via its trans-Atlantic subsidiary, is promoting its international image with the construction of three new marinas, one on the island of Curaçao in the Dutch Antilles and two in North America.

A top of the range marina on the island of Curaçao With an area of 444 km2, Curaçao is the largest island and the most populated of the Dutch Antilles Isles in the Caribbean. Sited at the south-west of the island, on the sheltered ‘Spanish Water’ anchorage, the Santa Barbara Plantation real estate complex is one of the largest in the region. It covers 600 hectares and includes a hotel, villas, a golf course, swimming pools, tennis, etc. In 2006, Poralu Marine had contributed to the creation of Seru Boca Marina, located at the heart of the complex and which can now accommodate 128 boats up to 45m in length.

In the face of the success of the Seru Boca Marina, the client for the Barbara Beach Plantation project once again approached Poralu Marine for the construction of a luxury marina located opposite the new Hyatt Regency hotel in Curaçao.

Signed at the end of 2008, the value of the contract is some 700 k€. Finalised in mid-2009, this top of the range marina will be inaugurated during the first half of 2010, to coincide with the opening of the hotel.

The original feature for the Hyatt Regency hotel marina project was to bring together fixed landing stages for the Super Yachts and floating pontoons for the smaller vessels.

The floating pontoons, covered with composite polypropylene (EcostyleTM) decking, accommodate 50 boats from 6 to 20 m in length. Positioned so as to protect the Barbara Beach section, this floating section comprises ‘design’ bridges, integrated solar-powered LEDs and underwater lighting. These innovative products bring real added value to Poralu Marine’s construction.

The aluminium fixed section comprises some ten moorings for Super Yachts over 25m long. By using its aluminium structural experience, Poralu Marine was able to reduce the number of supports required to support the fixed structure by nearly 2/3, thus optimising the costs .This wad done while still Spanish Water.

The marina at the Hyatt Regency Curaçao meeting the needs set out in the specification for an appealing design where particularly clean and airy lines were desired. The new marina for Super Yachts is an excellent sales window for port systems in an area where a variety of clients are looking for innovative processes and products. Moreover, there are more projects in the offing for the Santa Barbara Plantation property development program and, more generally, throughout the Caribbean islands.

Creation of the Casino Seven Clans marina on the Lac des Bois in the United States Bordering the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba and the US state of Minnesota, the Lac des ois extends over 100 km and has 14,552 islands.

The Casino Seven Clans, owned by the Red Band of Chippewa Indians, is based in the district of Warroad in Minnesota, to the south-west of the Lac des Bois. Against a backdrop of other activities being developed around the casino, the creation of a marina was entrusted to Poralu Marine. Thirty moorings were delivered and installed during the summer of 2009 with the first phase of the works.

The floating pontoons are finished with EcostyleTM decking, designed with environmentally friendly materials (polypropylene composite) and the MANTA fender intended to absorb impacts. The design of these pontoons mean s they blend perfectly into the natural surroundings, while still being an innovation on the Lac des Bois, equipped traditionally with all timber pontoons.

In the coming years, other phases of the works will be added to this initial construction. These developments illustrate Casino Seven Clans growth policy and participation in the local tourist economy.

Members of the First Nations account for a very active clientèle in the water sports market in both the United States and Canada. In addition, the position of the Lac des Bois on the border between the two countries has given Poralu Marine major a great reference in this region .

Renovation of the Pointe-aux-Anglais Yacht marina in Canada The Pointe-aux-Anglais Yacht Club marina is located on the Deux-Montagnes lake, in the town of Oka to the north-west of Montreal, Quebec. Awarded 4 anchors in 2009 by the Quebec Tourist Industry Corporation, this marina has achieved Eco-marinas certification from the Quebec Maritime Association.

The Poliseno Marine Group is one of the largest boat dealers in Montreal. In January 2009, it purchased the Pointe-aux-Anglais Yacht Club marina and initiated a redevelopment and extension project. At the end of a tendering exercise, Poralu Marine was awarded this contract, beating its local competitors.

The Casino Seven Clans marina

Laid out on a site with an established reputation for sailing, this marina has increased its mooring capacity (170 moorings initially) to meet growing demand from yachtsmen. Poralu Marine’s mission was to create 30 additional moorings on floating pontoons with MANTA fenders to accommodate boats between 8 and 20 m in length. This first phase of the works was delivered and inaugurated in May 2009, as the sailing season opened.

There will be a second phase of the works in 2010/2011. Negotiations between the Poliseno Marine Group and Poralu Marine are currently in progress.

These three projects mark a significant step for Poralu Marine in its market conquest in this geographical area, with its strong growth potential and where its Canadian subsidiary is maintaining a sustained business development campaign.

This demonstrates Poralu Marine’s capacity to provide global solutions and appropriate technological responses to complex configurations.
