Porto Montenegro has proudly announced that it has been honoured with the Wild Beauty Award 2013 for Best Tourism Investment Project. The award ceremony was organized by the National Tourism Organization, supported by the President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanovic. Twenty-three awards from various categories were presented in recognition of exceptional contributions to the tourist industry.
On acceptance of this prestigious award, Savo Djurovic, legal director of Adriatic Marinas, explained that although recession has been prominent over the past year, Porto Montenegro has continued to support the country’s position as an elite tourist and yachting destination. Furthermore, an additional 70 million has been invested in the project, enabling a 2014 completion date for the Regent Hotel and marina extension. A total of 180 million euros has been behind the project, with more than 700 members of staff involved.
The award was conceptualized in 2005 by the Council for Tourism in Montenegro — afirmation of Montenegrin tourism, recognising the high standards achieved in promotion and competition, creating and recognizing tourism value, and the ability to create and sustain distinctive tourism products within Montenegro.
The ceremony was held at the Hotel Splendid Conference & Spa Resort in Becici, with guests from political, cultural, economic, tourism and public life in Montenegro.
