Positive results for the ninth year of Seatec, held this year together with Compotec, the third International exhibition for composites and related technologies: 780 brands present overall (including 269 foreigners) compared to 753 in 2010; the total number of visitors from the industry up by 5%, that is 9,203 this year. 32.000 square metres of covered area occupied, over 40 side events in three days, a success that reconfirms Seatec’s and Compotec’s position among the top international trade fairs.
The significant number of professional visitors at the ”new” Seatec-Compotec confirms the positive choice of CarraraFiere to hold the two events together to benefit various industrial sectors while in terms of the actual exhibition what emerges is the innovation and high quality of the companies taking part. The subcontracting companies seem united in facing the challenges imposed by the recession, preparing for the recovery with enhanced technological and operational skills, and this is confirmed by the good 3,500 operators present at the stands representing the participating companies that chose Seatec-Compotec 2011 as the right venue for their business on the international scene.
Much appreciated was the organization of over 500 B2B meetings staged between exhibitors and a carefully selected number of foreign operators from Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, the UK, Malta, Poland, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Turkey possible thanks to the intense, constructive work carried out by CarraraFiere and the Italian Foreign Trade Commission.
The delegation from Lucca Chamber of Commerce, organized by Lucca Promos as part of the “Med in Italy” project, was also a remarkable success, involving operators from Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia and the Lebanon.
The faint signs of recovery announced by the ECB – the European Central Bank – turned out to be very noticeable for the companies taking part in Seatec-Compotec. Overall, the Exhibitors drew up important agreements and made or consolidated relations with representatives from professional offices, shipyards, pleasure and commercial ports, engineers and designers and also had the opportunity to see new products for other sectors too.
There was an even richer programme of side events, covering a wide range of design and technical themes, with specific conferences for the various industries represented, from composites to sailing, from ergonomics to safety and even exhibitions on the numerous competitions which are now “old favourites”: Myda and the Targa Rodolfo Bonetto for nautical and port design, the “live” Abitare la Barca with 14 students working in front of the visitors and Qualitec in its two sections “Technology” and “Design” open to innovative products by the Exhibitors themselves.
Among the new features of this year was the possibility for operators to talk to a Free Legal Office, made available by Seatec thanks to its relationship with the Terenzi Office in Pesaro, specialized, among other things, in shipyard contracts, that was open to the public over the three days of the event.
Another new feature which was much appreciated was the creation of a new on-line section for Exhibitors to announce their own news, a virtual exhibition to further support their presence at the trade fair, that will remain up on the sites of the two events for the rest of the year.
One of the most significant conferences was “The state of the Art: development and promotion of composite materials” with an audience of over one hundred, in an up-to-date analysis of the various industrial sectors represented (nautical, automotive, aero spatial and industrial design)
“We are very pleased with the atmosphere over the three days of Seatec-Compotec – Giorgio Bianchini, Chairman and Paris Mazzanti, General Manager of CarraraFiere observed– the significant numbers of exhibitors and visitors, as well as the keen interest in the many side events, confirm our choice to stage the two events together as a positive one. We believe that the presence of the various different industrial sectors in the field of composites can be translated into a positive sign not only for the event but also for the industry itself, that took up this new opportunity without any hesitation.”
