The gallery ‘Above the Blue’ at Premier Marinas‘ Port Solent Marina will be helping visitors get into the festive mood by treating them to mince pies and mulled wine as they browse the treasure trove of arts as well as crafts now on display. The event will run from November 29 to December 24.
The Christmas exhibition, called Made by Hand, brings together work by rising talents and some of the country’s leading makers. It offers the perfect chance to fall in love with an original piece of artwork, unique home accessory or piece of jewellery.
With a complete spectrum of styles and prices, there is something for everyone. Why not treat your loved ones, friends and family… or even yourself?
The gallery offers a wide range of unusual, stylish gifts to suit every pocket, with prices starting at just £6 for handmade silver earrings.
In addition to a fine selection of very reasonably priced jewellery there are quirky ceramic clocks, whimsical sea-themed wooden sculptures, stunning contemporary stainless steel yachts, beautiful glass coasters, dishes and wall hangings, practical and decorative ceramics by several makers from both near and far plus the ever popular bronze resin animal sculptures by Cornish artist, Suzie Marsh.
Bob Aylott’s marine photography and local landscapes have wide appeal or how about an extraordinary book that he produced documenting the greatest pop festival the world has ever seen: Isle of Wight 1970 Festival ‘Six Days That Rocked The World’ – there are only a few copies left! For anybody who was at the festival this would be a perfect gift and trip back into hippy nostalgia.
Bang up to date are the cast glass sculptures by Adriana Brinsmead-Stockham. With inspiration for each design coming from patterns that the seas or rivers and wind make on the land, these are truly inspirational and unique works of art for the discerning collector.
Chris Buck’s abstract bronze sculptures are timeless and beautiful to look at, combining natural forms and industrial precision.
A fine selection of original contemporary paintings in a variety of styles and media as well as limited edition prints could represent the perfect, long lasting gift.
This is just a snapshot of work featured in the gallery. To fully appreciate the abundance of art and crafts available a visit is a must.
