Chairman and founder of Princess Yachts International, David King, received the judges special award at this year’s “Motor Boat of the Year” dinner, which took place at the prominent Savoy Hotel in London. The award was introduced by Carl Richardson, Editor of Motor Boats Monthly, and Hugo Andreae, Editor of Motor Boats and Yachting, and was said to be in recognition of the incredible innovation, passion and dedication David has dedicated to the British Marine Industry over the past 46 years.
Princess has produced an incredible number of craft since they began building yachts in 1965 and is responsible for some of the market’s most ground breaking and iconic models during this time. “David is one of the Industries true champions” said Carl Richardson. “He has worked tirelessly not only to create one of the most prestigious and respected marine brands in the world, but also to promote British industry and design across the globe”. He continued. “Along the way he has been responsible for some of the great motorboats of the modern era and with the launch of the new 40 metre later this year I’m sure there is much more to come”.
On receiving the award a typically humble Mr King praised the people at Princess for the success. “This is far more about the bigger team who have helped make Princess a success over the years than it is for me, I have been extremely fortunate to have worked with so many wonderfully talented people both at Princess and in the industry as a whole so I feel this is a recognition for them”.
This was not the only award Princess collected on the evening as the already highly acclaimed luxury yacht V52 picked up the coveted title of ‘Motor Boat of the Year’ for the Sports Cruisers category too, making it another very successful evening for the Company.
