Turkish shipyard Mengi-Yay has moved its 44m/144ft motor yacht PROJECT VIRTUS to a second hangar in preparation for the final construction stages.
Previously known as HULL NB96, superyacht VIRTUS is constructed entirely from aluminium and created in collaboration of Ginton Naval Architects. She will return to the Istanbul Technical University following her sea trials to complete finishing touches to the interiors and furnishings, after which students from the Tuzla campus will be given an educational tour.
The interiors are the work of BTA Design and VYD studio, who also produced the exterior styling for her expansive exterior recreational areas: A sunbathing area is placed on the foredeck with room for casual alfresco dining, while the sundeck hosts an aft Jacuzzi and sun loungers with room beneath the hardtop for a C-shaped sofa with sweeping views of the location.
The accommodation sleeps a maximum of 10 guests over five cabins and crew accommodation for eight. Twin 1,450 HP Caterpillar C32 engines produce a top speed of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots with a fuel capacity of 51,000 litres.
Due to be launched in mid-2019 with sea trials after, M/Y PROJECT VIRTUS will be the second largest superyacht so far launched by Mengi-Yay after 45m/148ft AQUARIUS.
