Yas Marina, a breath-taking Abu Dhabi yacht charter destination, positioned in the Middle East, is expected to break all records for the eagerly awaited 2014 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with 25% more yachts and over 10,000 guests descending on Yas Marina for the busiest race weekend to date.
Yas Marina has experienced a sellout weekend with record numbers of guests and yachts for the 6th annual Abu Dhabi Race Weekend. Over 220 yachts from all over the world have descended on Yas Marina for what is expected to be its busiest race weekend to date. Above 10,000 members of the public are also expected per day between 21-23 November at Yas Marina to enjoy the vibrant array of restaurants and lounges. Yas Marina’s seven impressive outlets and promenade are all open to the public throughout the weekend and pose as the ideal destination to soak up the atmosphere and buzz of the event. Families, motor racing fans, revelers and yachting enthusiasts are all able to gather and enjoy the races at the heart of the action, enjoying Yas Marina’s exciting array of amenities.
Cedric Le Rest, General Manager of Yas Marina, said: “Race Week is our biggest and busiest week of the year, and this year is the most successful one yet, attracting huge numbers of both guests and yachts since the event’s inception in 2009. This week, we saw over 220 yachts from all over the world sail into the Yas Marina in preparation for the weekend. The atmosphere here is electric with yachts arriving from across the region and internationally.”
Back by popular demand this year is the Yas Marina Lounge by G.H. Mumm with a live jazz band and internationally acclaimed Amber Lounge, the bespoke Grand Prix after-party hospitality venue with live performances and international DJ sets.
The marina’s restaurants and lounges have experienced a huge interest over the weekend and Cipriani last night welcomed 800 guests with restaurant manager, Marco Boito, confirming that it had exceeded all expectations and it was one of his busiest Race Weekends to date.
In its second stage of redevelopment, Yas Marina has established itself not only as an entertainment hub but also as a holistic lifestyle and fitness destination with Watercooled and Vogue Fitness offering classes both onshore and offshore, providing something for everyone at the Race Week this year. These new facilities join existing outlets such as sunset lounge Iris, Spanish tapas bar and restaurant Diablito, French-German bakery Café D’Alsace, Lebanese restaurant Rozanah, Aquarium seafood restaurant, American sports bar Stars ‘N Bars and Cipriani, the Marina’s Italian fine dining restaurant. With many of the restaurants open from early to late and offering walk-in service, Yas Marina provides a great base to enjoy the race weekend atmosphere.
Along with the new dining and entertainment options, the new development caters to a variety of other visitor interests which the general public has been enjoying whilst soaking up the Race Week atmosphere. Families and friends have been strolling along the new promenade admiring some of the world’s biggest and best super yachts as well as an interactive musical fountain and a children’s playground.
During Race Week, the marina is open to the public and a range of kiosks are on hand including Yas Central EXPRESS, a stall selling Official Yas Marina Circuit merchandise, and a Yas Island information booth for guests to find out more about the various activities taking place during Race Weekend and throughout the year.
All visitors are strongly encouraged to use taxis or Uber services as their mode of transport as vehicle access to the marina is limited. Valet park for AED 200 per day with luxury Jaguar XJ drop off inside the marina. The self-parking option is AED 100 per day and guests will be transported by shuttle bus to inside the marina.
