After recent surveys as well as planning, work has begun on the refit project for the 58 m charter yacht Lady K II (ex Princess Tanya). Originally built by Austin & Pickersgill in England, the 1961 luxury motor yacht Lady K II is a classic private vessel, now based at Solent Refit.
It has been a great achievement so far, that Yacht Projects was able to recommission her in France and bring her back to UK waters ‘against all odds’.
Yacht Projects’ cost effective approach to the initial survey and recommissioning work, enabled the project to proceed and the 58 m luxury yacht Lady K II recovered. Now based at Solent Refit, the programme becomes an achievable, cost-effective project, which was not possible at the Mediterranean shipyards.
The first part of the project is centred around the engine room where major works are underway to fully rebuild the main two stroke cylinders back to zero hours. Significant plumbing work around the engine room will be completed to suit the classic style. Work is being completed to Lloyds Classification.
The work programme is planned to last over 15 months, after which Lady K II superyacht will be fully restored. New sponsons are being fitted along the waterline to assist stability and achieve a worldwide cruising range.
Charter yacht Lady K II (ex Princess Tanya) is expected to be lifted out of the water on the Solent Refit horizontal slipway, now rated up to 1500 tons.
Some of the superstructure will be modified to suit the new owner’s requirements and older teak decks renewed.
Plans are well advanced for the rebuild of the crew accommodation which, after more than 50 years has done its job! The main accommodation will be refurbished as a later stage in the programme.
