The Reichel/Pugh SW90 superyacht has completed her sea trials and is now being delivered to her owner. Built by Southern Wind and launched in Cape Town, South Africa, ‘Design No. 251’ was created to be an ultralight fast performance cruiser equally capable of competing in regattas as completing extended ocean transits.
Described as a ‘new generation project’ by yacht builders Southern Wind, she represents thousands of hours of attention from boat-building experts combined with the owner’s unique vision to create a performance focused sailing yacht.
Southern Wind founder and CEO commented on the design brief, stating that the owner wanted a swift and agile sailing yacht “…with the comfort and safety standards typical of a cruising yacht… and excellent performance in the most renowned offshore and inshore superyacht regattas.”
Flexible sailing setups, cutting edge technology and prime quality accommodation are only a few of the virtues of 27.5m/90.2ft RP-SW90, and during her sea trials she was recorded achieving speeds in excess of 18 knots.
