Launched by the prominent NZ builder Alloy Yachts on October 18, the magnificent 39-metre motor yacht CaryAli is the latest long-range, all-weather expedition cruiser, designed by Rene van der Velden. The well known Dutch design studio has created the powerful naval architecture as well as the classic bluewater styling of the splendid CaryAli superyacht, resulting in the look as well as performance appropriate to her planned use — extended offshore cruising.
Luxury yacht CaryAli, with steel hull and aluminium superstructure, is 39.16 meters LOA, 8.8 meters Beam, and 2.7 meters Draft. She has a saucy sheer, vertical mullions, harmonious fashion plates, and a reverse-tilted windscreen to eliminate bridge glare. She’s a real “little ship,” as the owners plan a world cruise aboard CaryAli.
Alloy Yachts proclaimed that CaryAli yacht was launched on “one of the most blustery and wet days we have seen in a while.” A good omen for an oceangoing yacht! So, despite the weather, as Alloy said, “the owners and the Alloy team were all smiles as she was christened.”
Then the owners wrote Rene van der Velden this appreciation:
As we prepare to leave on CaryAli’s maiden voyage, we would like to say thanks, René – thanks for turning our dream into a reality. We knew CaryAli would turn out wonderfully, but she evolved beyond our highest expectations. In fact, a most respected naval architect recently visited us on CaryAli, concluding that she is the best motoryacht he has ever been aboard — “a triumph.”
I have been drawn to boats since I was a child, so to step aboard my new boat made me proud. On such occasions, many owners look right away to the next project. I’m the same. So, if there is another yacht in our future, it will be drawn by René van der Velden Yacht Design.
René, we look forward to you spending some time aboard with us in the near future, to enjoy the fruits of your talent.
All our best, and thanks again.
Bob & Lynne
Rene van der Velden Yacht Design is pleased when an owner is pleased; that’s what makes its work so satisfying. But all this would have been impossible without the keen input of other major participants, starting with Alloy Yachts, who built CaryAli superyacht to the award-winning quality one expects from them.
Rene van der Velden also commends Redman Whitely Dixon, who shaped the stunning interior, and Peter Wilson of MCM, who did yeoman’s work as owner’s representative. Of course, nothing would have happened without the owners, whose essential input and close involvement made the 39m expedition yacht CaryAli the wonderful achievement she is.
