Vripack Design Studio has recently created a RIB for Dutch yacht builder Ribbon Yachts called the Ribbon 45 SC. Ribbon Yachts gave the design brief to the Vripack Design Studio to create a Rib without having it look like a typical Rib plus she has to be an ultimate ‘man boat’. That is exactly what they have done with the Ribbon 45 SC, a 13-metre minimalistic RIB with a sporty edge.

Inspired by modern aeronautics and the fastest and most agile airplanes in the world, the Ribbon 45 SC features sharp edges, short round corners leading to precise lines and clean surfaces. Not surprising as the founder of Ribbon Yachts is an enthusiastic and successful aviator. Vripack have omitted ornaments and kept decorations to a minimum, maintaining a minimal and clean look throughout.
The Ribbon 45 SC motor yacht has a fully equipped helm and navigation cockpit which is located in the middle of the yacht. The helm station is fitted out with three Recaro sport bucket seats that provide exceptionally firm support around the hip and shoulder areas. A huge windscreen wraps around the entire area providing complete and safe shelter so guests can safely relax or even sun-bathe during navigating. The cabin provides unparalleled leg room, huge overhead lockers and a private toilet and shower area.

Moving away from the traditional styling of a RIB, Vripack have cut the usually continuous Rib collar in two and separated them. With the forward one placed at deck level it creates a muscled shoulder amidships. The aft collar is placed low at waterline level emphasizing the muscle.
Vripack engineered an extremely stiff structure for the Ribbon 45 SC with a vacuum injected composite construction which suited to Ribbon Yachts expertise in the manufacturing of lightweight structures and in working with high-tech composites.
The twin Rolls-Royce water jets on the Ribbon 45 SC are powered by Cummins engines that are controlled by the vector stick control system providing in state-of-the-art easy docking and manoeuvrability with very tight turning circles and super fine control in fine quarters.
