Rodriguez of Rodriguez Interiors comments on the design of the project: “Like every client and owner of a mega yacht this project was no different. As a designer you have a list of the owner’s wishes and wants and it’s your job to fit it all in with style and grace. Since I have had the privilege of knowing the owner and his family from previous projects it made this one all the more important to show them that my design skills could be pushed and that it exactly what they did. The owners visions of the boat were many but one that will always stick with me, is they wanted to walk on into a very elegant Main Salon. Which is what we accomplished by giving them two magnificent walls of back lit amethyst as the first thing you see and feel.
You are greeted by a Bechstein piano on the port side and a beautiful Venetian console and mirror on the starboard side. You are then in the luxurious world of MY SOLANDGE which exudes elegance, luxury and opulence as you walk through her beautiful wooden floors with borders of honey onyx stone and gold leaf ceilings with Schonbeck chandeliers dripping with amethyst rose quartz crystals. The Main Salon leads you into the lobby which showcases the star of the show, “The Tree of Life”, a lighted sculpture which is 50’ high and has more than 1200 points of light. This magnificent sculpture was created to fulfill the wishes of the owner, he always had a vision of something running the entire height of the vessel from the tank deck to the bridge deck and after many design trials we all decided on the beautiful art glass sculpture.
The Main Deck is where all of the guest cabins are located, which are all in a transitional design which encompasses a clean backdrop in the lines of the design but the wood veneers used give it a classical twist. Each cabin is designed the same with beautiful mother of pearl inlays in the pertaining colour way. The guest companionway is special because we have designed this space for the guest to enjoy without needing to call the crew if they would like a late night drink or snack. There are four drawer refrigerators, an ice maker and storage area for the guests to help themselves. We also have a Nespresso machine and kettle for the guests to use at their leisure. There is also a guest office that can be converted to a cabin if needed. As you leave the Main Deck and go to the owner’s deck you have the owner’s suite which includes a private office, his dressing room and bathroom and her dressing room and bathroom and then the stateroom itself which overlooks the bow of the boat and has its own private Spa Pool. The owners suite has a beautiful array of handmade Italian furnishings which consist of a private dining area, a desk area for her with a leather inlayed top and a custom chest of drawers. The owners lounge is a more relaxed and casual environment than that of the Main Salon.
The owner told me that he wanted to walk onboard and as he went upwards from deck to deck, he wanted the vessel to feel more casual and relaxed until he reached his Sun Deck where we have designed it as a beach club feeling, “Nikki Beach”, onboard SOLANDGE. This includes a bar clad in gold and white Bisazza tiles surrounded by 14 bar stools covered in gold leather flanked by two TV’s for viewing pleasure of all guests and a Spa Pool with a clear dance floor that lays on top for parties that can be hosted by anyone using our DJ console and booth. The owner wanted every inch of this vessel to be special and have a meaning. It’s difficult to design 88 meters of “special” but I believe that we have accomplished this for him in a very controlled way. We have carried our theme throughout the vessel of back lit stone as well as mother of pearl inlays, carved glass, leather inlays and an assortment of exotic wood veneers. SOLANDGE, is a true representation of an owners dream come true. Every inch of the vessel was designed to accommodate him and his family with the designer’s vision of a grand and fulfilling project. “
