The modernised and refurbished RS Global building located in the heart of the STP (Servicios Técnicos Portuarios) superyacht refit and repair yard in Palma de Mallorca was officially opened at a ceremony on Thursday the 3rd of November 2011.
The locally based chandlery, rigging and yacht-painting specialists Rolling Stock Group took over the building last year which used to provide canteen facilities for workers and crews in the area as well as a workshop and storage facility. The newly fitted building now boasts a new restaurant called the Dock Bar, as well as modern well-appointed offices for up to 20 local and international superyacht refit and repair specialists.
The STP yard has had massive investment in the last few years with RS Global having been awarded the 12 year concession by the Balearics Port Authority to manage the building, which offer approximately 3,000 square meters of rentable workshop and office space on two floors, including the bar/restaurant.
The STP superyacht yard is well equipped with 5 travel lifts able to lift greater than 750Ton, in excess of 50 berths for yachts up to 90m in length, 55,000 m2 of hard standing for vessels up to 60m, and 6 Keel pits for sailing vessels up to 60m, STP superyacht yard is one of the biggest facilities in the Mediterranean with regards to surface area and moorings dedicated to yacht refit and repair.
The new RS Global building greatly improve the facilities already within the shipyard, allowing marine trades the opportunity to be strategically placed within the STP shipyard in Palma, Spain. The opening of the RS Global building was attended by VIP guests and local authorities including the President of The Balearic Port Authority, Sr.Jose Maria Urrutia Mera, the President of The Mallorca Chamber of Commerce, Sr. Juan Gual de Torrela, and Margarita Dahlberg, President of The Balearic Nautical Business Association (AENB)
