Following on from the success of 50m/164ft superyacht VERTIGE, which was unveiled at the last edition of the Monaco Yacht Show, Tankoa Yachts has begun construction on two new all-aluminium motor yachts of the same size at one of its La Spezia shipyards: the S501-type HULL#5 and S502-type HULL#6 ELETTRA.
Other contributing factors for the on-speculation builds include the quick sale of luxury yacht ELETTRA (one of the two yachts currently in build and due for launch in early May 2019), high demand from around the world for a model of this size, plus the success of superyacht VERTIGE on the charter market, filling 20 weeks between the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.
The S501-type HULL#5 and S502-type HULL#6 ELETTRA will both feature an exterior design by Francesco Paszkowski and are based on the same naval architectural platform as VERTIGE. The interiors also use a similar setup, providing a Master suite on the main deck forward and the rest of the guest accommodation on the lower deck. The tender garage will be sideloading and slightly forward of the stern, leaving room for a beach club with a transom door. Although currently in construction, potential buyers have the opportunity to personalise the interior and exterior layouts.
HULL#5 will use diesel propulsion, however, ELETTRA will use hybrid-propulsion which was developed in collaboration with Diesel Centre also in La Spezia. For propulsion, modes will be available: Diesel-electric, full electric, traditional diesel and full-speed mode.
Both superyachts have been under construction since the first week of May and have an expected delivery date for summer 2020.
