The end of 2010 signalled the beginning of a new build for Alloy Yachts with the cutting of plate for 43.9m sailing yacht hull number AY45. With sailing yacht Vertigo soon to leave the shed and yachts AY43 and AY44 well underway, the team at Alloy Yachts began to cut the plate for the next yacht, a 43.9m sloop designed by Dubois Naval Architects scheduled to launch in late 2012.
Repeat customers of the Alloy yard, the owners have spent the last 14 years cruising the world aboard AY8 Eclipse. Their love of sailing yacht Eclipse and the long relationship they have had with the people at Alloy Yachts convinced them that it was time to return to the yard and build another.
Their brief was for a bigger, more modern and faster version of what they currently have, while incorporating the qualities they love about yacht Eclipse into a larger yacht.
A notable feature that the new sailing yacht AY45 will have is the same style of stepped transom as the 20 year old Eclipse. The steps provide a wonderful extension to the outdoor living area and provide a perfect spot for fishing or just hanging out and watching the wake while underway.
AY45 is designed by Dubois Naval Architects and has an interior designed by the Alloy Yachts Interior Design team along with the owners.
