Sailing yacht A is the largest sailing yacht in the world. Attracting much attention from various industries in the world, from boating to technology and luxury life, Sailing Yacht A made her appearance in October 2016 on her second sea trials having the sails hoisted. She was designed by bespoke Philippe Stark and built by Nobiskrug for the Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko.
Being the largest sailing yacht in the world indeed means being one of the most expensive yachts in the world. However, costs are justified by innovative design and technology featured in the construction of this beauty. For instance, the three masts of this sailing yacht are the tallest in the world and can handle strong winds of 90 knots. Digital interface that allows effortless anchoring by pressing a button and a high-tech system that controls the yacht are also some of the most outstanding technical features.
Melnichenko is a well-known yachting enthusiasts, as he also owns motor yacht A, again, one of the greatest yachts on the planet. The lucky owner is expecting the new addition to his fleet, Sailing Yacht A, in 2017.
Sailing yacht A measure 148 metres LOA with a beam of 24.88 metres. Internal volume of the yacht is 12,700 GT. Her sailing design, rig and keel, as well as associated structural engineering was developed by Dykstra Naval Architects. She is powered by two diesel MTU engines of 9,654 hp, which allow a maximum speed of 21 kn.
Although details on interior design have not been revealed yet, it will definitely be another stunning design of living and exterior spaces over 6 decks of the yacht.
