A yacht with an interesting background is currently under construction at the Phithak Shipyard and Services in Thailand. Silver Lining super yacht is a Sparkman & Stephens designed 104 foot long sloop. She was designed back in 1998 in New York and was planned for a limited production run at an important Chinese shipyard. At the end of 2000 and in 2001 the yacht’s hull was laid up, however the shipyard decided to discontinue her production half way through the build. Silver Lining’s aluminium hull and superstructure was then left in their storage yard.
In 2008, Sailing Yacht Silver Lining, together with all her design and engineering information, were purchased by a new Owner to bring this wonderful vessel back to life. She has been transported to Thailand and was launched on the 20th January 2011. In order to comply with ABS standards, all Silver Lining hull’s welding was redone and her systems have been updated to 2010 standards. SuperYacht Silver Lining features newly designed pilot house, to give her more up to date, modern look.
