The respected British luxury yacht design studio, Humphreys Yacht Design, and the well known Turkish yacht builder, Arkin Pruva Yachts, have joined their forces to create a beautiful, elegant and comfortable TEMPUS CLASS yacht series, with the first sailing yacht TEMPUS 90 already under construction. The venture started when the shipyard’s owner, Mr Erbil Arkin, approached Humphreys’ and asked them to design a vessel that would be in the ‘spirit’ of a J Class yacht, yet with improved and more comfortable accommodation to better suit the modern-day sailor’s needs.
TEMPUS CLASS yacht is a beautiful looking vessel with modern accommodation and better hull volume than the traditional J Class. The range includes the already mentioned sailing yacht Tempus 90, the Tempus 125 and the Tempus 150 yacht – with a choice of sloop, cutter or ketch rigs.
Development of the Tempus Class project has started about three years ago to date, creating spectacular sailing yachts that stand out thanks to their beauty, comfort, style, great speed of sailing and excellent sea keeping abilities.
When compared to the traditional J Class, the new Tempus Class has the same ‘wow’ factor, elegant classic lines with an immaculate wooden construction and the characteristic low deckhouses. In addition to these fine attributes, the yacht design was further enhanced with more volume, better accommodation and two cockpits – one for the owner and one for the guests.
Sailing Yacht Tempus 90
Currently under construction in Turkey at Arkin Pruva Yachts, the J-Class inspired luxury yacht Tempus 90 will be ready to view in March 2013 and is scheduled for launch in June 2013. The new superyacht’s comfortable and luxurious accommodation for six guests in total, in addition to her volume, good speed of sailing, sea keeping and beauty, make her an ideal choice not only as a private vessel, but also as an outstanding charter yacht. She would be well suited for such well known sailing regattas as, for example, the ‘Voiles de St Tropez‘.
Cold-moulded with epoxy resin, the luxury yacht Tempus 90 will be fairly easy to sail with only two or three crew needed, featuring a contemporary sloop with slab reefing, swept-back spreaders, a short top mast, fixed backstay and a self-tacking headsail.
