Launched in August 2013, sailing yacht Tempus Fugit is a beautiful 27,5-metre J-Class inspired sloop, boasting a full Doyle Stratis inventory. Constructed by Arkin Pruva in Turkey and penned by Humphreys Yacht Design, the sails of superyacht Tempus Fugit were supplied by the Doyle Turkey loft. She made her premiere on the race circuit in Cannes as well as St Tropez.
Skipper Argan Bailey is delighted with Tempus Fugit yacht and her sails. “With a generous carbon rig and Stratis carbon sails from Doyle NZ we had a good idea she was going to pack a punch. Going straight from the launch into two back to back prestigious regattas was pretty nerve racking with her being so young and barely tested. I needn’t have worried. She was solid, slippery as a fish and quick, really quick, and honestly left us all a little gobsmacked including our competitors.
I think the highlight for me during those two weeks was putting her through a thunderstorm, 40 knots and a sky blacker than coal. We tightened up and put one reef in the genoa and one in the main. She steamed through like a rocket, unfazed and steady, unlike us who emerged dripping and euphoric on the other side. Matt Bridge from Doyle NZ, who was on genoa trim, looked up at the sail (named light genoa) and said “ yeah, I think we might need to remove the word light from that title”. I agree with the man, the Stratis sails were fierce, shaped to perfection and tough as nails and had a huge part to play in our success during the racing. Hats off to you Doyle.”
