The latest expedition yacht concept from Dutch-based Diana Yacht Design is the 60m/197ft superyacht PROJECT BEYOND, intended for exploration by sea and sky all across the world, offering her guests unprecedented views of popular cruising hot spots as well as breath-taking remote wildernesses and an observatory for watching the stars.
Taking inspiration from the successful Class 1 ice-breaking luxury charter yacht LEGEND, PROJECT BEYOND uses a steel hull and aluminium superstructure that makes use of sleek modern lines and a high bow for efficient cruising in any sea condition.
Casper Marelis, the finalist at the Young Designer of the Year Awards and Designer and naval architect at Diana Yacht Design, explained his inaugural concept for the studio:
“I wanted to create an explorer yacht which really has the rugged look associated with this type of vessel: The grey border interrupts the green hull which makes the bow look even more impressive while ensuring the overall side view does not look too massive.”
The flexible design allows for the tender and toys storage areas to be converted into other guest spaces as the voyage requires and the Owner desires, in addition to the observatory located on the sundeck – the first of its kind aboard a superyacht. In addition, the concept includes a cinema, a dedicated dive centre, a boardroom, gym and spa wellness centre with a direct connection to the private Owner’s lounge that features a glass aft for panoramic views. The Owner’s suite meanwhile has 180 views and a private Jacuzzi.
The exterior deck areas are designed for guests to make the most of outdoor living in warmer climates, and the foredeck in particular features a large social area combining sun pads with crescent seating and drinks tables for the perfect afternoon lunch or evening meal at sunset.
The accommodation sleeps up to 14 guests in 7 beautifully appointed staterooms consisting of a Master suite, four double cabins and two twin cabins. The professional crew of 17 will keep operations running smoothly throughout every cruise.
In terms of her specifications, explorer yacht PROJECT BEYOND will use a pair of C32 engines to reach a top speed of 15 knots, a cruising speed of 12 knots and a range of 4,500 nautical miles.
