In a few days the Seychelles will be welcoming the participants of the Seychelles Sailing Yacht Regatta 2010 which takes place from the 22nd to the 30th May.
The 10 teams that have entered the competition will meet at the end of the week under the Seychellois sunshine to discover Eden Island, the start and finish of the race. They will then set sail on Sunday 23rd to race within the unspoiled archipelago of the Indian Ocean. Peter Smith, Head of Sales and Marketing for Eden Island, and his team are enthusiastically preparing this second edition. “Eden Island is delighted to welcome back the Seychelles Regatta this year. The fleet of international skippers is exceptional and the event fits in perfectly with our island’s philosophy. The format of the Seychelles Regatta offers a fantastic opportunity to introduce the ideology of Eden Island and we are keen to promote sailing in the Seychelles where our marina is the ideal home and port base.”
The Seychelles Tourism Board has taken over the organisation of the event this year and is looking forward to hosting some of the biggest names in sailing for this unique event. Alain Saint-Ange, Director of the Seychelles Tourism Board declared: “The Seychelles Regatta is a pinnacle event in our yearly calendar of events and our aim is to perpetuate it in the years to come. Seychelles is an amazing playground for regattas thanks to the 115 islands that offer a large variety of race routes. Sailing is also one of the best ways to discover the Seychelles and to access the islands by mooring in heavenly places. The Seychelles Regatta is an excellent opportunity to experience living in another world for an entire week.”
The sailing yacht fleet of 36 to 57’ catamarans will host crews of 6 to 8 people coming mainly from France. Please click here to access the Seychelles Regatta 2010 race route.
