The Western Australia-based shipbuilder Echo Yachts has delivered the largest composite resin infused shadow vessel ever built in Australia. The 46-metre catamaran CHARLEY has been constructed to serve as a support vessel for the 84-metre superyacht White Rabbit Golf, which is currently under construction at the shipyard.
Naval architecture, exterior and interior styling are a work of the New Zealand company LOMOcean. Charley is believed to have excellent sea-keeping and fuel capacity, along with providing a significant amount of space for transporting and storing tenders and water toys. The 12-metre custom built catamaran tender Vicky with its specially engineered launch and retrieval platform positioned at the stern of the vessel.
In total, Charley can carry five tenders, four Jet skies and a hovercraft. There is also a large touch-and-go helipad, dive store, decompression chamber and specialist sonar equipment.
Although Charley is a shadow vessel, there is plenty of room and excellent facilities on board. The guests can appreciate some great views from the covered observation deck, get together for a meal in a tastefully furnished dining area with a flat-screen TV and a piano.
Charley accommodates up to 5 guests in 3 lovely cabins. There is a professional crew of 13 people on board the vessel.
Powered by two 2,700hp Cummins QSK60 engines and with a fuel capacity of 60,000 litres, Charley has a maximum range of 2,500 nm at the speed of 16 knots.
Once the mother ship of Charley – White Rabbit Golf – is built, she will become the largest trimaran superyacht in the world. Designed by bespoke Sam Sorgiovanni, this superyacht is scheduled for completion in 2018. Not only White Rabbit Golf will become the largest yacht ever built in Australia, but she will also hold the title of the largest aluminium superyacht in the world.
