Shuttleworth Design, designers of the multi-award winning trimaran Adastra, has just launched their all-new website. This showcases the studio’s latest superyacht designs, including the 80M, 70M and 32M trimarans.
80M TRIMARAN SUPERYACHT – The ultimate ocean explorer
The Shuttleworth 80M mega yacht is the largest and most advanced in their range of power trimaran designs, currently under development.
At 14 knots her range will be in excess of 7,500 miles, and her top speed of 25 knots can be increased to 30 knots with alternative engine options. She offers unrivalled fuel efficiency for her size.
The luxurious interiors of Shuttleworth 80M superyacht accommodate 14 guests, 18 crew and has an entire deck dedicated to the owner. As with their 70M design the wings are used for accommodation allowing to create a living space on the main deck unrivalled on a single hulled vessel.
70M TRIMARAN SUPERYACHT – The future of fuel efficient superyacht design
The Shuttleworth 70M superyacht with her sleek aerodynamic exterior and cutting edge naval architecture offers unrivalled stability, seakeeping and efficiency. At 14 knots her range will be in excess of 7,000 miles, and her top speed of 25 knots can be increased to 30 knots with alternative engine options. She represents the future of fuel efficient superyacht design, allowing you to explore the world in comfort and style.
Her luxurious interior accommodates 12 guests, 14 crew and has an entire deck dedicated to the owner. At 70m and above the wings can be used for accommodation allowing to create a living space on the main deck that makes full use of the vessel’s 23m beam, and is unrivalled on monohull vessels of similar length.
32M POWER TRIMARAN – Go anywhere, anytime
The Shuttleworth 32M yacht redefines long distance voyaging yachts of this size range. Her rugged ‘explorer’ style exterior maximises interior volume to provide spacious and comfortable accommodation whilst still maintaining unrivalled seakeeping, stability, and efficiency.
Powered by a single 1150hp C18 caterpillar engine with an additional 110hp engine in each outrigger for manoeuvring and back up propulsion, the Shuttleworth 32M superyacht has a top speed of 23 knots and a range at 12 knots in excess of 6,000 miles.
Using state of the art composite engineering the studio has achieved the light weight structure required for exceptional fuel efficiency and performance, as well as the strength and rigidity suitable for heavy weather ocean capability. Ocean voyages can be undertaken with confidence, at high speed and in comfort, allowing you to go anywhere, anytime.
Award Winning Design
All the latest trimaran designs by Shuttleworth are based on the award winning naval architecture principles used to create the 42.5m trimaran Adastra. The slender, shallow draft hull forms are designed to slice through waves with minimal resistance, reducing fuel consumption, improving passenger comfort and enabling faster transit in rough conditions. Unlike a monohull, the shape of the multi-hull vessels mean they require no additional stabilisation to reduce roll. Aerodynamics and hydrodynamics above the waterline were carefully considered as we developed the overall exterior shapes and we kept the vessels streamlined for both air and water passing over the structure. The smooth, seamless, unbroken surfaces also help to reduce weight as the outer-skin forms part of the structure to absorb torsional loads.
Superyacht Adastra has now covered 14,000 miles at sea and has proven herself to be a very comfortable and exceptionally fuel efficient ocean going vessel. She can travel at 17 to 20 knots in most conditions, and has weathered 50 knot winds and seas up to 4 metres. She is incredibly stable and comfortable at rest and rolling is virtually eliminated by the outriggers.
On winning the 2013 Showboats Design Awards for naval architecture, the judges stated: “This yacht will have the best performance in the most sea states of all those presented.”
