Set to attend the 2014 Singapore Yacht Show, Porto Montenegro is doubling its yacht berth capacity in response to high demand, as stated by the owner of the superyacht marina village and homeport, Adriatic Marinas. Situated in the beautiful Mediterranean yacht charter destination – the Adriatic Riviera, Porto Montenegro is nestled in the centre of this latest firm favourite of the European jet-set cognoscente. In the summer season of 2013, the superyacht marina experienced wait lists of yachts and boats, lining up to access its facilities, and so has decided to expand to meet demand, with the 25 million euro extension.

The expansion will see the luxury yacht marina grow from the current 250 mixed berths up to 450 by this summer. The new berths will range between 12m and 75m in length, providing a range of options both for visiting superyachts and smaller day boats based out of the Porto Montenegro marina village, which also offers a range of luxury private residences, shopping, nightlife and casinos. This spring the marina will also be updating its bunkering facilities with a new cutting-edge fuel station that provides vessels with duty free fuel at up to 45 per cent less than retail prices available elsewhere in Europe.
One of Montenegro’s attractions as a homeport or residence is its fiscal policy, particularly in relation to yachting. Lying outside the EU, there are no charter taxes and VAT is at 7% on marine-related services.

“The expansion of the marina is not only a testament of success for Porto Montenegro, it also confirms that the Adriatic has cemented itself as an exciting destination for yachts of all sizes and classes. The new berth mix will appeal to all ends of the market, but especially for superyachts and megayachts, which will soon be supported by a state-of-the-art maintenance and refit facility,” explains Tony Browne, Marina Director of Adriatic Marinas.
Upon completion, Porto Montenegro will not only be one of the largest yacht havens in the Mediterranean, but with more than 50 of the new berths destined for yachts over 45 metres in length, it will also have one of the biggest superyacht capacities in the world, says Adriatic Marinas.
The expansion should be completed in time for the opening of the Regent Porto Montenegro Hotel and Residences in July, a waterfront property comprising 34 hotel rooms and 54 residential apartments and penthouses with between one and four bedrooms. With interiors envisaged by celebrated French designer Tino Zervudachi and overall architecture by ReardonSmith Architects, which was responsible for all Porto Montenegro’s existing residential projects, the hotel will have a contemporary, clean feel with traditional references. The Regent Porto Montenegro will be managed by Michael Posch, who joins from the Leonardo Royal Hotel Berlin Alexanderplatz; it joins the international family of world-class Regent Hotels & Resorts in Bali, Beijing, Berlin, Phuket, Taipei, Turks & Caicos and Singapore.
