The XII edition of the Southern Wind Trophy is about to kick off next week during the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, organised by Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) and Boat International Media. The event will be hosted by the lovely Italy yacht charter destination – Porto Cervo in Sardinia, running from June 3 to 7, 2014.
After eight successful editions held in the enchanting waters of Capri Island, SWS Trophy moved in 2008 to Porto Cervo, where owners have been charmed by the glamour and amazing context of Emerald Cost. At its fourth edition in Sardinia, this “event in the event” offers five days of breathtakingly coastal races and five nights of exclusive social programs in the stunning location of “La Maddalena Archipelago”.
“We are happy with this formula,” says Willy Persico, CEO of Southern Wind. “It gives our owners a chance to fraternize and is a showcase for our performance cruiser yachts in a context where they shine even in the eyes of owners of yachts from other shipyards.”
Racing is only one part of the action; on Tuesday, June 5th, Southern Wind owners and their crews will meet at Poltu Quatu, a beautiful natural fjord, for the exclusive SWS dinner party held with the special partnership of Pantaenius Yacht Insurance and G.H Mumm Champagne.
This unique occasion will see the official launch of the Southern Wind Sailing Academy, a brand new project, whose aim is to introduce yachtsmen to both performance and blue water sailing culture.
