Following the announcement of the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta organizers that RedFoo and the Party Rock Crew will be the main act for the Sunday night, another great act for the 2014 St.Maarten Heineken Regatta Sunday night Legendary Party has been confirmed and will be the one and only Orange Grove (OG). This International band with local roots will undoubtedly not only add to the night’s amazing vibe, but will get party goers on their feet and dancing to the beat way before the main act arrives.
The St. Maarten Heineken Regatta is known for its 3 days of fantastic professional sailing and its 4 nights of pulse quickening music performances. Starting Thursday on March 6th, organizers are excited to open the festivities with the Dance Fever Party at Princess Port de Plaisance. Followed by Rock & Reggae night on Friday and Caribbean Jam Night will highlight the festivities on Saturday March 8th. The final night of celebrations will be a Legendary Party on Sunday March 9th at Kim Sha Beach.
To say that Orange Grove has been busy since their last regatta performance would be an understatement; rather they have been hitting the studio in an effort to make the coming year one of their best musical seasons yet. Currently OG has 2 self proclaimed groove-a-licious albums under their belt as well as one live album and two singles and they are feverishly working hard to get the final details completed and ready for their third album release later this year.
For a band that is comprised of a group of young men, you would think that producing a new album in a year would be enough, but not for OG. Early on in 2013 they started working on getting in touch with one of the most famous DJ/producers in the world, Bob Sinclar. With some assistance from St. Maarten radio host Elektra and resident island DJ Thierry they received an email from the man himself stating that he loved their track and would work on it. The rest you might say is history, that track, which was remixed by Sinclar himself, was played at Pacha nightclub in Ibiza this past August and received rave reviews. The final details are currently under negotiation and in the coming months the worldwide release of “Ready For It” remixed by Sinclar will grace the airwaves in a minimum of 12 countries around the Globe.
Lead singer Michael Maidwell elaborated “Working with Bob Sinclar was something I always had dreamed of doing ever since I first heard his worldwide hit “Love Generation”. In April of 2013 I received an email from Bob himself. He simply said “Hey OG, it’s Bob Sinclar, I love you’re track, I am gonna work on it!”. The track he was referring to was “Ready For It”. A few weeks later we received his first draft of his remix and we were all blown away! Now it is finally time to let the world hear what one of the world’s most influential DJ’s together with a band like no other, has produced in sound! Are you Ready For It?”
What does this all mean for the OG audience on Sunday March 9th? The first ever on stage release of the remix “Ready For It”, giving the St.Maarten Heineken Regatta audience a sneak peak before its world wide release. In addition, Orange Grove promises to mix it up between their classic hits like “Feel That Fire” and “White Daisy” and a never before heard set from their soon to be released album. Considering that their performances over the years have only gotten better, their energy levels will most certainly exceed the realm of normal. This year they plan to break the barrier on performing and will make sure that you are fully exhausted by the time you leave the beach early Monday morning.
New to the Regatta stage will be bassist Daniele Labatte. Their newest band member adds an international flair to the mix, hailing from Italy. His performance promises to bring a whole new level of bass to the OG stage, bringing bass to another level when it comes to sound. Daniele is the bassist for a widely famous Dutch band “Kane” who is currently on hiatus, allowing OG to showcase their newest member for the first time during the 2014 St.Maarten Heineken Regatta.
When asked about their return to the island for their St. Maarten Heineken Regatta performance the band stated “We LOVE coming back to St Maarten..each and every time. It’s our second home…even for the guys in the band who are not from there. It will be our new bassist’s first trip to the island and we are confident he will feel the same. We love being around all our close friends and family on the island, we love the SXM vibe, and we LOVE the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta. No other festival in the year is even close to as much fun..or as professionally organized. So put those two things together…our love for the island and being able to come back down to play THE best festival of the year..and yeah, a match made in heaven!”
