This year’s St.Maarten Heineken Regatta schedule is full of artists, musicians, entertainers and more, and Friday, March 7th is going to be legendary! This Rock and Reggae night will entertain everybody from the minute the first note is sung until the last beer is served, and regatta organizers are thrilled at the line up for the night. The 34th Edition of the St.Maarten Heineken Regatta will boast 4 nights of Regatta parties. Set to kick off on Thursday March 6th with the Dance Fever Party, the event will continue on Friday March 7th with Rock and Reggae, Saturday March 8th with Caribbean Jam, and will conclude with a Legendary Party on Sunday March 9th!
The floor will be opened by the Soualiga Brass Band, they’ll be parading over The Boardwalk, setting the tone for what will be a great continuation of the Regatta festivities. The line-up further includes some of the island’s best musicians including Koolberry Jam, Percy Rankin’ & The Bonfire Band and Fred York featuring his mix of top local talent dubbed “Musicology”. They will be doing their renditions of hits from Legendary Reggae icon Bob Marley in this Tribute To Bob Marley concert.
Additionally DJ Etienne The Kid will be on the main stage. The elevated DJ booth, which will be located between Holland House Hotel and Taloula Mango’s Restaurant, will host DJ of the night, DJ Chubbs. The Master of Ceremonies of the evening will be none other than Partydude Jason, and last but certainly not least, the legendary Mighty Dow will present his Ebony Steel Orchestra close to the Captain Hodge wharf.
Koolberry Jam is no stranger to the regatta stage and is comprised of an eclectic group of musicians from Aruba, Serbia and the Dominican Republic. Their mix of soul, classic rock and new hits will lend a upbeat and fun mix to the Friday night extravaganza.
Percy Rankin’, who has been performing island wide for years, will bring his down to earth beats and island vibe to the stage during his regatta performance.
Musicology presents A Tribute To Bob Marley, led by Fred York, is sure to be a crowd pleaser. His passion for music and his commitment to the island make Fred a local unsung hero. His tribute to Bob Marley will most certainly be one to remember and a performance you won’t want to miss out on.
To finalize the evening’s performance list, the one and only Mighty Dow will enchant you with his Ebony Steel Orchestra, known throughout the region as the best steel pan band in the Caribbean. The melodious tunes that resonate from his steel pans draw you in and fill your soul with rhythm. His performance Friday night will have the Caribbean melodies flowing through your body for the rest of the weekend.
