The Australian PFD manufacturer, Stormy Lifejackets is currently presenting an international expansion strategy with a European ecommerce website and localised distribution facility. The creative company has been exporting for a couple of years, and is now well positioned to enter the generous global marketplace after being accredited with the international standard ISO12402-3 earlier this year.
Stormy Lifejackets will be exhibiting at METS again this year and are in a strong position to take on the European market with their functional and comfortable range of lifejackets.
The UK website has been launched in early November and will add to Stormy Australia’s global presence in the market. Stormy Lifejackets has generated considerable interest in this market through partnering with a prominent PR consultant and online marketing agency. The product has been well received by the maritime press and the UK online blog has already attracted several thousand impressions.
Stormy Lifejackets was the first company in the world to release a full range of comfortable jacket and vest style PFD with the new ISO accreditation. Given the success of the jackets and vests in Australia’s southern states, the core products are expected to be well suited to the colder climates and weather conditions in Europe.
“Worn rather than stowed, Stormy inflatable clothing is the ultimate safety accessory” says Helen Moore, Managing director and Chief Designer.
Stormy lifejackets have been constantly improving their product range, they now incorporate a sailing harness option for their Jackets and vests in addition to sailing specific vests for offshore racing. They have developed the Rescue Grenade, an inflatable life ring that can be easily stored and accurately thrown and aim to have SOLAS accreditation in early 2012 for their commercial range for the oil and gas industry.
“We have always focused on ongoing research and development to make the best possible products for the sole purpose of saving lives. We now want to share our technology with the rest of the world”, says Helen.
Following the European launch, Stormy Lifejackets will be entering the market of Canada in late 2012.
