During this year, Walcon Marine, the world-renowned company specializing in the design, build, as well as installation of luxury yacht marinas and berthing facilities, has strenghten its reputation for having a truly global reach, when it comes to building and installing yacht marinas of all shapes and sizes.
This year the company has had three projects in the Indian Ocean – two of those in the Seychelles; an 81-berth marina at the Eden Island resort and an extended linear berthing facility for the Maritime Training Centre, and another marina for the English Point resort at Mombasa, Kenya. Meanwhile at Nanny Cay in the British Virgin Islands Walcon added five superyachts berths to the existing Walcon facility, capable of taking yachts up to 40-metres in length.
Walcon Marine Australia delivered a 30-berth superyacht extension to the marina it built at the Port of Airlie as well as seeing healthy demand for its pontoon hire business for events such as the Sydney triathlon, Sydney Festival and other commercial activities. A range of other projects were also completed or are currently underway.
In the Netherlands Walcon Marine has, in association with its local partner Infratrading, completed three projects over the 2013 season; for the Woudrichem Watersports Association, the Zwartsluis Recreation Centre and Scharendijke Yacht Haven respectively. Of these, the Zwartsluis Recreation Centre and the Scharendijke Yacht Haven installations were the largest. The latter has 17 new finger pontoons, 14 walkway pontoons and two bridges. Infratrading also reports that it has additional projects in Belgium that are expected to get under way in early 2014.
Lastly, Walcon’s home market of the UK has seen healthy demand with projects around the coastline.
“Walcon Marine has been a global company for much of its 50-year history,” said James Walters, Managing Director, “and over that time we have built up experience of working with local agents, authorities and contractors to ensure that the projects are completed to everyone’s satisfaction. Our range of products means that we can provide sturdy, low maintenance berthing facilities to suit all climates and conditions.”
