The well known US luxury yacht builder, Hatteras Yachts, was delighted to once again exhibit its fleet of amazing motor yachts as well as sportfishing convertibles during this year’s Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show. Although Hurricane Sandy made her presence felt during the first two days of the show, the weekend was lovely. Together with the sunshine, Saturday brought record crowds to the display, providing Hatteras with its biggest single day attendance in four years!
The entire GT Series continued to receive lots of attention, with scores of anglers and sportfishing aficionados lining up to tour these 40+ knot performance convertibles. Also on display was the 68 Convertible yacht – her 21’6″ beam dominating the dock side, beckoning her admirers to come aboard and experience her cavernous salon deck and full-beam master suite. The immense cockpit, with its full mezzanine seating and numerous storage compartments, left no doubt that this battlewagon is built to dominate the competition.
Although the convertible lineup was displayed prominently at the front, the newly redesigned 80 Motor Yacht definitely stole the show. The external cues were easy to spot. The new arch placement, new portlights found amidship, and new bow observation lounge are all pleasant aesthetic improvements – but the dramatic changes found inside left each visitor almost speechless. The open floor plan, combined with a modified arrangement and additional storage, truly elevates this already successful motor yacht to a new plane.
It goes without saying that the successes realized at big shows like Ft. Lauderdale and Miami would not be possible without the dedication and efforts of Hatteras crew – especially with a hurricane bearing down on them. The same craftsmen, carpenters and service professionals that build Hatteras yachts also design and construct the company’s show displays.
During the show they greet Hatteras owners and friends with a smile and a handshake or offer a complimentary drink at the hospitality bar. Most never see the work they do early in the morning and late at night keeping the display and the yachts clean and comfortable for Hatteras visitors. Hatteras Yachts are fortunate to have such talented and hardworking individuals as a part of their team.
Hatteras Yachts thanks to all those who came to visit them during the Ft. Lauderdale show, and also to those that left the show as new Hatteras owners. The company looks forward to working with the new owners toward the completion of their Hatteras, and eagerly anticipates seeing everybody once again in 2013 at the Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show.
