Last week saw Sunreef Yachts introduce a revolutionary Hydrofoil concept during its Annual Press Conference at the 2014 Cannes Yachting Festival. As the Sunreef’s naval architects developed a system of retractable hydrofoils that would enable beautiful Sunreef units to reach a top speed of up to 70 knots, such a meeting was the best opportunity to share their knowledge in public.
First luxury open power catamaran with hydrofoil system
The first model fitted with hydrofoils will be the Sunreef 40 H – a 40-feet motor catamaran of an open type. The unit will be lifted out of the water, which significantly decreases drag, consequently allowing for greater speeds. Thanks to the stability of two independent hulls, the unit is perfectly balanced, so there is no need to use any complicated stabilizing systems. The passengers as well as the crew members are provided with extraordinary comfort and safety even at large speeds. The innovative hydrofoil system gives the power catamaran Owners the best opportunity to fully exploit the potential offered by their yacht.
One of the main points of the event was additionally a presentation of a brand new sailing catamaran model – the Sunreef 74 with the innovative carbon mast construction. This spacious unit can be easily handled by only 2 people. The customization and space arrangement possibilities are truly unlimited. Not long before the official presentation, 4 models of this impressive catamaran were sold.

The participants had also a possibility to experience the GRAND PREMIERE of two NEWLY launched power catamarans – the 60 ft and the 70 ft – both with custom interior solutions of open and semi-open saloons and the first 70 Sunreef Power yacht 1 Life with the Volvo IPS System.
The conference hosted three very special guests, all famous sailors and multihull experts: Lauren Bourgnon, Steve Ravussin and Yvan Ravussin, who shared their opinions on the key features of catamarans and their knowledge with Sunreef`s units. Additionally, among speakers, there was Robert Blazejak – the Chief Concept Designer in Sunreef Yachts and Patrick Raub – the Sunreef Yachts Expert.
