Belize Yacht Charters:
Sitting on the eastern coast of the Central American coastline facing the Caribbean Sea, Belize is a unique treasure in the sailing world, and home to Sunsail’s newest yacht charter destination.
Sunsail, the sailing holiday specialist, is thrilled to announce the opening of a new charter location in Belize. The new destination, Sunsail’s 8th in the Caribbean, will open in November 2010, offering sailors the opportunity to explore one of Mother Nature’s best kept secrets this winter.
Located in Placencia, Sunsail’s Belize base is the perfect starting point for a wonderfully varied charter holiday. With the picturesque Belizean coast stretching out over 185 miles, there is an abundance of things to do and see. The marine life here is dazzling and yearning to be explored.
Discover Belize’s Mesoamerican Barrier Reef; the longest unbroken reef in the western hemisphere. Coral gardens featuring over 70 types of hard corals, the distinguished Blue Hole, nearly 500 species of fish including playful dolphins, fascinating whale sharks, graceful sea turtles and elegant eagle rays all make up Belize’s sensational sea life. With visibility usually extending hundreds of feet, diverse dive sites and extensive sea life, Belize will not disappoint.
Whether you choose to rest undisturbed on the top deck of your yacht watching the waves break in the distance, snorkel in waist deep water amidst schools of colourful fish, or venture inland to the rainforests for the day where you’ll find waterfalls and jungle canopies, Belize is one destination worth discovering.
The sailing here is consistent, with trade winds blowing along the coast most of the year and the water inside the reef is calm with few waves. This, combined with a wonderfully fresh breeze, makes the sailing in Belize superb.
Ideally suited for catamaran sailing, Sunsail will be offering the brand new award-winning Sunsail 384 catamarans for charter from November 2010.
“We are delighted to be able to offer another premier sailing destination to our already wide choice of worldwide locations. Belize offers an outstanding mix of unbeatable sailing conditions and an abundance of wildlife with undiscovered treasures. This is definitely a sailing holiday destination not to be missed.” Cheryl Powell, Sunsail’s Chief Operating Officer.
Italy Yacht Charters:
Gulf of Naples, Procida, Italy
Sunsail’s newest charter location is Procida, Italy! Procida is less well known than its glamorous neighbouring islands of Ischia and Capri, however, this is Procida’s charm and it’s also the ideal starting point for your charter to the Pontine Islands or the superb Amalfi Coast.
Located in the Tyrrhenian sea within 50 miles of Italy’s west coast and an hour south of Rome, the Pontine Islands are only accessible by sea, and so have remained relatively unknown and unspoilt, making this archipelago ideal for an authentic Italian holiday on a Sunsail yacht charter.
The Pontine Islands include Ponza, Palmarola, Zannone, Ventotene, Santo Stefano, the small island of Gavi and the solitary rock of la Botte, offering a huge variety of coastlines with colourful rock outcrops, attractive villages and small Mediterranean ports.
Procida is the smallest and oldest island in the Bay of Naples and is, like Ischia, of volcanic origin. Cruisers will enjoy a mild climate, with flourishing gardens and fragrant citrus groves, and beautiful clear waters, great for snorkelling and diving, particularly in Palmarola. Take a week or two to explore the numerous coves and inlets and bring your walking shoes to enjoy hikes through fascinating historical ruins and nature sites.
Marina Corricella is a beautiful fishing town, resembling an amphitheatre on the sea, surrounded by nets and fishing boats. Only attainable by sea, there are no vehicles here, but only the voices of the fishermen who mend the nets on the wharf. The village of Corricella faces due south-east and is sheltered from all other sides by the cliff behind. A long ridge of rocks protects the marina from the occasional south-easterly wind (Scirocco). The site is so sheltered that the temperature is pleasantly mild also in full winter.
If you choose to charter along the Amalfi coast with its magnificent stretch of mountainous coastline, you can take in the small picturesque villages and towns stacked precariously on steep, pale rocky cliffs plunging sheer into the Mediterranean Sea.
