Mehmet Kamer Sarpkaya, a young yacht design engineer from Turkey, who graduated from Southampton Solent University, has unveiled the super-fast 84m expedition mega yacht GALENE concept. Named after the ancient Greek goddess of calm seas, GALENE has been designed to cruise very efficiently at low speeds, and is also capable to achieve high cruising speeds.
The voluminous GALENE can sleep up to 14 guests in utmost in luxury, providing them with 7 luxuriously appointed suites. These include a gorgeous owner’s suite, ensuring maximum privacy. There are also comfortable crew cabins for a numerous crew of 25.
The many special features of GALENE include a helipad, botanic garden, cinema saloon, elevator, spa area, gym, open pool, Jacuzzi and garage for the water toys. This striking vessel has been even designed to host a water canon system, as well as an anti-missile system providing maximum security.
In terms of performance, the steel and aluminium GALENE has 6000 nautical miles cruising range with standard twin 16V 4680 HP MTU 595 TE 70 engines, in combination with Siemens Hybrid EcoProp System. This lowers carbon foot print and increases the cruising range. The vessel thus becomes environmentally friendly and can be operated without any noise or vibration. On the other hand, by using advantage of fast displacement hull form, GALENE can be also configured with Rolls Royce MT7 Turbine systems attached waterjets, reaching impressive speeds.
