Superior Jetties® recently exhibited at the Yacht and Boat Show at Goseong in South Gyeongsang Province in South Korea. Attending were Superior Jetties’ Managing Director John Hogan, and Korean licensee Mr HY Kim and his team from Shinhwa Marine.
Superior’s stand included an actual Capri™ marina constructed on the show floor with several innovations developed by Shinhwa including accessories such as a swim ladder, handrail system, lightstands and a cool sunshade.
Immediately after the Show, Superior visited the team’s latest installation site on the Han River at Youido in downtown Seoul. The new marina for the Seoul Yacht and Marina Club is due for a year end completion and presented significant technical challenges with 15m floods occurring at the location. The technical challenges have led to a significant innovation in pile technology with a new floating solution to support the Marina Club and berths even with a 15m rise in water level. The new patented technology will be released in Australia in the near future.
With the first phase of berths completed and installed, the Club has started purchasing both sail and power boats which is a significant step in making recreational boating and chartering a reality in Korea – in a convenient downtown location with a population of 12 million people.
Simultaneously with completely manufacturing the Seoul Capri™ marina in Korea, Superior Jetties is manufacturing and installing another Capri™ marina at Salacia Waters on the Gold Coast for Korean company Lotte Engineering & Construction.
With Superior being well known in Korea for many years, the relationships there assisted with negotiating the deal for the Australian site which is due for completion in mid November. Once again the Capri™ aluminium Marina System provides the bulk of the berths, however the Salacia Waters site is a composite marina with Elite™ concrete Marina System T heads being fitted to provide wake protection for the marina from passing traffic.
These two marinas have added to a busy second half of 2010 with projects also ongoing in Melbourne, Darwin and Abu Dhabi.
