Today, July 12, 2013, saw the Superyacht Australia announce that they have obtained NSW government support to invite a key Superyacht industry personality from Asia to Sydney during the Sydney Boat Show. The key focus for this invitation is to offer companies in the Superyacht sector a better understanding of the Asian Superyacht market as well as the possibilities that exist for Australia within this market.
With the Asian region growing as a Superyacht cruising destination, Superyacht Australia believes Australia is well placed to provide the key refit and repair services this growing cruising fleet will require.
Superyacht Australia CEO MaryAnne Edwards said “We believe we have the best infrastructure, experience, quality and reputation within the region and we need to better understand how we ensure our capability is promoted and understood by captains and owners within these cruising grounds. The recent drop in the value of the Australian dollar is certainly making us more competitive and we are seeing more enquiries coming our way.” Edwards continued by saying, “with the support of the Australian government we are developing strong networks and key relationships all across the Asia Pacific region to ensure the growth of the Australian superyacht industry.”
Superyacht Australia has invited well known personality Captain Charlie Dwyer, who resides in Thailand to visit Australia during the Sydney International Boat Show.
Captain Charlie Dwyer who has visited Australia several times said, “I am excited to be invited by Superyacht Australia to better understand and view first hand the infrastructure and refit/repair capability of Australian superyacht industry businesses and specifically those in Sydney. I am impressed by the initiatives now being driven by Superyacht Australia and have heard extremely positive comments regarding their recent networking event in Tahiti, they are certainly gaining a strong profile within the region.”
Superyacht Australia continues to drive the promotion and profile of the industry and will have a strong presence at both the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show & Ft Lauderdale Boat Show. The credibility of Superyacht Australia as an organisation is certainly obvious with another separate government grant received recently to drive promotion of the Australian Superyacht sector into Asia. This will see a team of Australian Superyacht Industry businesses visit Asia within the next 6 months.
