The final day of this year’s Superyacht Challenge Antigua, which ran from January 28 to 31, was marked by great sailing conditions. Fifteen knots of easterly breeze, pumping up to 20 knots in gusty squalls, offered fantastic conditions for the amazing range of superyachts participating in this popular race.
In the Corsairs Class, the 112ft sloop Nilaya took her third win on corrected time and won the class by three points from the 147ft sloop Visione. Swan 90 Freya was two minutes behind Visione on corrected time in Race 4, placing third in class.
In the Buccaneers Class, the last day’s race was the decider between the two leading yachts. The 128ft sloop Tenaz took line honours and won on corrected time in her class. Oyster 82 Zig Zag was second in the last race of the regatta to claim a well-deserved runner up in their first Superyacht Challenge Antigua. The 108ft ketch Marama was third in Race 4, to place third in class.
The participating vessels enjoyed a glamorous Prize Giving Cocktail Party yesterday night, which was held between the pillars at the Admiral’s Inn Hotel. Antiguan sensation, Asher Otto and Itchy Feet, were playing live for a rousing finale to the 6th edition of the Superyacht Challenge Antigua.
