Recently René van der Velden Yacht Design shared the good news that they had moved from their original, rather small, home into expanded studio and offices in a classic 17th-century Amersfoort building. “We were excited by the prospect of setting up improved design facilities; enjoying a more open, inspiring space; feeling a natural boost to our creative energies; and offering clients a friendlier atmosphere for shaping elegant lines.”
Well, after just a few months in this new atelier, we find it exceeds our expectations. One basic reason is the town of Amersfoort itself, which has its own special historic flavor and mood, conducive to joyous creativity.
Archaeologists say this town has been occupied since 1,000 BC, although the name was given to it in the 11th century. But fear not, Amersfoort is not an old and tired place: it bustles with vitality. Some new clients, as well as old friends, have already found their way to this inspiring place (a ten minute walk from the train station) to enjoy our hospitality, and we now even have the space to accommodate the first-year students of InHolland University.
We look forward to welcoming you in the near or distant future to the historic center of Amersfoort.”
