February 13 saw the appointment of Captain Michael Howorth and his wife Frances Howorth as senior contributing editors for the 2013–2014 Superyacht Owners’ Guide. This will be published in September and launched at the Monaco Yacht Show.

Former superyacht Captain turned specialist industry journalist, Michael, knows first-hand just how valuable SYOG is. Michael said, “A hardback book that fits on the Captain’s shelf, just above his desk, is the perfect ever-ready resource for him to refer to when organising the owner’s needs.”
Michael continues, “I am delighted that SYOG has invited us onto its editorial board, to tap into the vast pool of superyacht knowledge, an experience I share with my equally expert wife, Frances.
“The project-planning ‘conception to realisation’ approach of this year’s book is exactly what the industry needs. Its sections are themed according to the five stages of the new-build process, namely: Imagine. Plan. Build. Equip. Enjoy.”
Over its five-year life-span, SYOG has become an essential industry reference tool. 10,000 copies are distributed annually to superyacht owners, yacht management companies, shipyards, naval architects, wealth managers, yacht designers, charter companies and the potential superyacht owners of tomorrow: charter guests.
Discussing the content of the book, Michael said, “I believe the format and content of SYOG to be spot on. I love its size and the features hit the right note, neither preaching to the converted nor plunging industry newcomers into a sea of superyacht jargon.”
Frances Howorth agreed. She said, “I believe the industry needs more new owners if it is to grow. In one handy volume, SYOG provides everything that anyone planning on buying their first superyacht will ever need to know.”
For many years, Frances Howorth was a superyacht Chef, Chief Stew and finally Purser. She has continued her career ashore, as a photographer and features editor for many of the world’s leading superyacht publications.
