The Perini Navi Group launches the Exuma yacht, the first 50-metre Picchiotti motor yacht belonging to the Vitruvius® series. Perini also announces further organisation of its Italian shipyards.
Superyacht Exuma, the Picchiotti 50 metre motor yacht – the first of three such units sold as of today by the Perini Navi Group under the Picchiotti brand – will be launched tomorrow in La Spezia Italy.
The launch of motor yacht Exuma sanctions the Group’s entrance in the field of motor yachts and the new reorganisation of the Italian shipyards with the change in the company name of the Cantieri Navali Beconcini shipyard of La Spezia to Picchiotti.

The new generation of Picchiotti Vitruvius®-series motor yachts, born from the collaboration between Vitruvius Ltd, Philippe Briand and the Perini Navi Group, is conceived with a focus on top efficiency for fully autonomous navigation. The aluminium hull is characterized by streamlined, slender traits and follows the principles of the BOS® Hull – Briand Optimized Stretched Hull – that allows to enjoy a gross tonnage of 497 tons, displacement of 400 tonnes, a reduced draught of 2.3 metres for navigating even in shallower waters, and a range of 5,500 miles at 12 knots.
Luxury yacht Exuma was conceived and created with a strong aptitude for exploration in mind, and has the capability of stowing large amounts of equipment on board to allow exploring the most beautiful and remote areas of the world: an amphibious 16.4 ft vehicle, completely customised with Iveco Campagnola mechanical components and frame, a Hov Pod 12 ft hovercraft housed inside the two fore lateral garages with gull-wing door openings, two tenders, respectively measuring 21 ft and 14 ft, two electric land scooters, two Seabobs and a Sea-Doo RXT 250 jet ski. The yacht is also equipped with diving areas and equipment.

The interior and exterior spaces are designed to increase privacy among shipboard guests and to enhance outdoor living. Internal furnishings are designed by Perini Navi’s Interior Designers with a focus on classic maritime style tradition, essentially using oak, teak and Italian marble.
On the occasion of the official launch of the Perini Navi Exuma yacht, the Perini Navi Group announces the new organisation of the Italian shipyards, with the change of company name – which took place on 16th June, 2010 – of the Cantieri Navali Beconcini shipyard of La Spezia, to Picchiotti. The objective is to define a focused industrial strategy aimed at rationalizing and concentrating the production of motor yachts at the Picchiotti shipyard in La Spezia (former Cantieri Navali Beconcini shipyard).
Following recent restructuring and expansion of its infrastructures, the Picchiotti shipyard of La Spezia now extends over a total surface of 32,000 square metres, possesses 3 new 70-metre long sheds, two new 50-metre docks and two due travel lifts, respectively for 260 and 820 tons, for towage of large-size yachts.

He continues – “Particular mention goes to the Cantieri Navali Beconcini shipyard, a brand rich in tradition and excellence, that has signified so much for us in the history of Italian naval shipyards, with important building and refit work on a worldwide level, among which: SY Candida, 36 metres, of 1929 and SY Mariette, 33 metres, of 1915. CNB still constitutes an important asset that we jealously cherish and preserve within the heritage of our Group”.
As of 31st May, 2010, the Perini Navi Group registers an order portfolio of 168 million Euro, with the building of 6 yachts. 4 sailing yachts of which, two 56-metre yachts, one 50-metre, one 40-metre fast cruiser, and 2 Picchiotti motor yachts belonging to the Vitruvius® series, of which one 55 metre Ice-Class, to navigate the Northwest Passage, whose delivery is planned for 2011, and a 73 metre whose delivery is scheduled for 2013.
