2018 is the 10th anniversary of the Dubai International Boat Show, the premier luxury yachting exhibition in the Middle East. The event draws ship builders and industry experts from over 40 countries to showcase the latest ground-breaking concepts, technologies and water toys in a five-day extravaganza designed to enthral visitors of all ages.
As work is underway to improve the marina where the event is usually held, this year’s venue is the Dubai Canal in Jumeirah, which is ideally positioned close to local landmarks and the setup allows for even more exhibitors than in previous years.
A number of luxury yacht builders have confirmed their attendance – take a look below to see the impressive superyachts they will be featuring at the event.
Rocket – Heesen
Previously known as ICE ANGEL, 50m/163ft superyacht ROCKET is a prime example of open deck space from European shipbuilders Heesen and Omega Architects. The aft decks each have plenty of room for alfresco dining and sunbathing, while the sundeck has an abundance of sunpads forward and aft, plus a spacious Jacuzzi where guests can enjoy elevated views. Her angular bow is used for storing motorised water toys and tenders, leaving additional space in the stern for a beach club.
The interiors contain a full beam VIP stateroom as well as a full-beam Master suite, and the skylounge has sweeping 270° views – perfect for taking in the cityscape of Dubai.
Azimut 60 Flybridge – Azimut
Azimut continues to excel with its smaller luxury yachts, and the AZIMUT 60 FLYBRIDGE won the Boat of the Year for 2017 as well as taking top place in the Best interior Layout in the 50′ to 80′ range category.
Featuring exteriors and interiors from internationally recognised designers Stefano Righini and Achille Salvagni respectively, the AZIMUT 60 FLYBRIDGE is the small motor yacht with that can compete with larger scale models for luxury.
Westport 65 – Westport
To become one of the largest luxury yachts built in the US, the WESTPORT 65 will be constructed from lightweight composites or aluminium as the owner desires. The water toys will be stored on the foredeck to create even more guest space with a beach club, and a lift (elevator) will be installed for ease-of-access to all decks.
Sunseeker 95, Manhattan 66 and Manhattan 76 – Sunseeker
British-based shipbuilders Sunseeker have their eye on constructing ever-larger superyachts and the SUNSEEKER 95 is a proud step towards that goal. This superyacht showcases Sunseeker’s dedication to quality and performance, and features an open-plan layout and high-quality interiors from the shipyard’s in-house designers.
Sunseeker is also using the occasion of the Dubai International Boat Show to debut some of their latest superyachts: The MANHATTAN 66 and the MANHATTAN 76, both of which boast features and facilities for their size category that are usually associated with much larger superyachts.
Serenity – Austal
72m/236ft motor yacht SERENITY was built in 2004 and received a comprehensive refit in 2017, putting her back in the charter world limelight. Her on board facilities are perfectly geared towards entertaining and include a swimming pool, sauna, beauty salon, spa massage room and cinema.
The magnificent outdoor areas were styled by Luiz De Basto and her interiors from Ask Deco play with warm and cool tones and materials to suit any social occasion.
Majesty 100 and Majesty 135 – Gulf Craft
Unveiled at DIBS 2017, the MAJESTY 100 is returning this year along with the MAJESTY 135 to show off her semi-convertible flybridge and expansive bow recreational area. Characterised by opulent interiors and an efficient propulsion system, she will attract attention as much for her economical range as her stunning appearance.
Although Monte Carlo Yachts exhibited the MCY 86 last year, the 2018 model has even more to offer potential buyers and charter guests: Five different interior layouts are available using a state-of-the-art design process and the interiors combine cutting-edge technology with exceptional French and Italian design for an incredible on board experience.
Riva 100′ Corsaro – Riva Yachts
Combining a stylish exterior with excellent performance, comfort and safety, the arrow-like RIVA 100 CORSARO is a striking silhouette on the horizon and a wonder to own: Her interiors contain a full-beam Master suite and four other luscious guest cabins, while her shared recreational areas are ideally balanced between interior and exterior space.
Chakra – Scheepswerf Gebr. van der Werf
Originally built in 1963, classic motor yacht CHAKRA underwent an extensive refit in 2016 and 2017, to maintain her on board systems and ensure that while cruising up to 40 guests are treated to the finest luxury. As well as a comprehensive store of water toys, the amenities aboard M/Y CHAKRA include a beauty salon, massage room, a Jacuzzi, gym and a grand piano and karaoke system for entertaining, ensuring her popularity on the charter market for special occasions and corporate events.
