The Port Authority of Papeete, a fantastic Tahiti yacht charter destination, is thrilled to announce the development of a superyacht marina to be operational from March 2015. Positioned in the center of the capital city, the marina will boast a specific area, including a two hundred meter dock, dedicated to Superyachts.
It has been developed in compliance with the ISPS code. An area will be devoted to crew members offering, among others, free WiFi and the opportunity for crew to meet at the marina. Marina Taina, close to Tahiti International Airport, has a capacity to welcome 20 yachts up to 60 meters. Any yacht beyond that size will now have the opportunity to have appropriate berthing in town in a separate area than cruise ships. Yachts will not be charged anymore for the additional cost of security guards as in the past when they were berthed along the same dock as cruise ships.
The marina is part of an urbanization development project led by the Port Authority to renovate Papeete’s waterfront. It will include a pedestrian area and a bike path as well as a park with a tropical fish pond. The area is meant to become one of Tahiti’s favorite places to practice outdoor sports and relax throughout the year.
The Port Authority would also like to stress that, for any yachts interested in staying long term in the fabulous French Polynesia yacht holiday location and be registered in the country, the import taxes have dramatically decreased to 8% of the vessel’s value.
