Early this morning, on the first day of the prestigious Monaco Yacht Show 2015, Heesen Yachts has proudly unveiled The Sound of Silence, a multisensory experience for the launch of their superyacht NOVA (project name). This was presented by Barry Smith, a professor of philosophy and director of the Institute of Philosophy as well as the founder of the Centre for the Study of the Senses, which pioneers collaborative research between philosophers, psychologists and neuroscientists.
Luxury motor yacht NOVA releases the smooth sound of on average 46 decibels, making a harmony between noise and taste, a perfect pairing for enjoying any food and drink experienced on board. As a professional of taste and sound, Professor Smith has showcased the difference in sound when pouring Champagne, Soda and Prosecco, and how these sounds may affect our preferences even when we are unaware of them.
While providing a pleasurable and peaceful experience on board, luxury yacht NOVA is also able to achieve a maximum speed of 16,3 knots with her hybrid propulsion. Perfectly quiet whilst departing and cruising, she allows her captain and crew to start early and leave the port without waking the owners and guests.
During a press event on the opening day of the Monaco Yacht Show 2015, Mark Cavendish, the Sales and Marketing Director of Heesen, has also unveiled more details about the new hybrid 50m super yacht NOVA, the world’s first FDHF motor yacht fitted with hybrid propulsion.
NOVA yacht is an ultra-efficient, low fuel burning vessel, ensuring a super quiet cruising. By adding two water cooled DC electric shaft motors of 127 kW each she can cruise at speeds up to 9 knots using the generators alone. The main engines can be switched off and do not need to be used. At this speed the consumption is predicted to be a staggering 45 litres per hour.
Beautifully designed by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, super yacht NOVA boasts such striking features as a plumb bow and spray rails, as well as an amazing fixed swimming platform aft with wide sweeping stairs leading to the main deck.
Created by Sinot Yacht Design, the stylish interiors of NOVA superyacht incorporate the beach style theme of the exterior, with clean, modern contemporary lines with much use of natural fabrics and materials and emphasising the vast amount of natural light flooding into the interior. Accommodation is divided into 6 lavish staterooms, including a full-beam VIP stateroom on the lower deck. There is also the traditional owner’s stateroom and main saloon/dining on the main deck and the upper saloon above. The many remarkable features aboard this modern and innovative vessel include a dedicated gym with separate hammam.
