Following a great success of last year’s inaugural charity cycle ride in aid of Cancer Research, 16 riders from the yachting industry are once again back in the saddle. The Cogs 4 Cancer team will be riding from Ancona in Italy to Antibes in the South of France via Monaco, in aid of Cancer Research UK, Clinique Tzank in Mougins, as well as the children’s cancer unit at the Lenval hospital in Nice.
The C4C riders are setting off from CRN Shipyard in Ancona on the 5th October 2014.
They will travel 850km in six days and will arrive in Antibes via a special ‘Tribute Stage’ from San Remo through Monaco to Antibes.
The Tribute Ride is open to all riders for a charity fee of €350 euros and will take place on Friday the 10th of October.
100% of funds raised will go direct to the charities, with riders providing their own funding for the ride and sustenance en-route provided by Gourmet Deliveries.
The riders can be followed in real-time online thanks to the specialist satellite tracking devices provided by Yellowbrick.
The riders will be well looked after during the event with sports therapists & masseuses Liz Wright and Chelsea Good providing post-ride care and with Marine Medical providing extensive medical kits and first aid support.
The C4C Gala Fund Raising dinner takes place on Friday 19th September at Le Provencal Golf in Biot.
Organised by Abacus & March & the Interior Training Academy there will be a Sports Memorabilia Auction plus a raffle to raise extra funds.
Steve Crowe, MD of Yachting Pages who is taking part in the bike ride commented, “Everyone has their own story as to why they’re riding, but it is also an opportunity for the yachting community to give something back and to honour the memory of so many friends lost to this terrible disease.”
Once again HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco is very generously sponsoring Adrian Long who will be participating in the event for the second year running – with a Brain Tumor…
