There have been a number of superyachts launched during July 2010. Here are the biggest and best yachts CharterWorld have featured throughout the month.

Expedition Motor Yacht Luna

Motor yacht LUNA is the newest and largest luxury expedition superyacht in the world. Superyacht Luna has just recently been launched, finished and delivered to her owner by the German shipyard Lloyd Weft and has been cruising in France, Italy and Mediterranean. An impressive yacht in many regards the huge 115 metre explorer yacht Luna has raised the bar for private yachts of her size and type. She is a functional superyacht which has been designed and built for world exploration in remote areas, as evidenced by her ship like powerful lines, but she is also very much a luxury yacht which can provide her guests with ultimate comfort. Yacht LUNA was the second largest private yacht launched in 2009, after ECLIPSE.

Lloydwerft is a commercial ship builder in Bremerhaven, Germany and superyacht LUNA was jointly constructed in a collaboration between the Lloydwerft and Stahlbau Nord Shipyards. The Luxury yacht LUNA has an interior designed by the distinguished designer Donald Starkey. Her innovative exterior styling was designed by Newcruise Design which is a Hamburg based company which has been involved in several large German newbuild superyachts. NEWCRUISE re a Yacht Projects Design company which was involved in the project from its inception and the initial visualisation and profile appearance right through to the yacht’s deck organisation, the layout, lighting, exterior detailing and detailing such as the furniture arrangements and colour briefs.

In true expedition style, the yacht features an expansive open main aft deck space which can be utilised as a platform for many different activities and being a luxury yacht Luna accommodates a large swimming pool and generous sunning and entertaining areas here. Further aft,  she also has a spacious swimming and water activity platform which creates a yacht to water interface where guests can easily get close to the water despite the yachts size.

M/Y Luna also has aft transom doors which lead to the yacht’s tender and water toy garage and exploration equipment and housing such items is one of the specific purposes of super yacht LUNA. Her large, open aft deck also features a large swimming pool and sunbathing areas with a dedicated open luxury leisure area featuring a beach club leading down to the swim platform. The yacht has huge aft door which can be opened at anchor as well as two tender and equipment launching side doors on the aft of her hull.

Superyacht Luna has two helicopter landing decks – fore and aft – and a large assortment of peripheral marine equipment. Her exterior boasts two helicopter pads facing forward, to the rear around the large communications tower

There is little doubt that the luxury expedition megayacht Luna unrivalled. She is an expedition yacht very much in her own class. She stands head and shoulders above those other superyachts in her class. She was created to enable an adventurous yacht owner to cruise huge distances and explorer the world’s oceans without frequently having to stop or refuel. As an expedition yacht, Luna can navigate challenging sea ways and weather conditions as well as providing first class luxury yacht amenities and style.

The massive 115 m explorer yacht Luna raises the bar for private motoryachts of her size and type. Superyacht Luna has just recently been launched, finished and delivered to her owner in June 2010 by the German shipyard Lloyd Weft. Superyacht PACIFIC is launched by Lurssen in Germany

The 85m superyacht PACIFIC has now been launched by Lurssen Yachts of Germany in Vegesack. The powerful motor yacht PACIFIC is to be finished and sea trialed by the leading superyacht builder Lurssen before later being delivered to her owner. Yacht Pacific is a 85 metre (278 ft) motor yacht which had her wonderful and unique exterior designing created by German Frers. The luxury yacht’s interior design was created by the well known Bannenberg & Rowell.

The first image of the yacht seen here was taken by the German yacht and ship photographer Martin Groothuis from Bremen at the shipyard in Vegesack.

Yacht PACIFIC displays a unique styling in her exterior design. As can be seen here, her topsides have two openings on her starboard side which are likely tender and water toy garages which will also double as swimming platforms and landing areas.

German Frers which is perhaps more traditionally associated with sailing yacht design, is the experienced design office responsible for the Pacific yacht’s individual look. The Argentinean naval architect has managed a quite traditional look which is also modern and pleasing on the eye.  M/Y Pacific has a comparatively lower centre of gravity and a squarer and perhaps more expedition look than many other superyachts of her length.

More information and further images about yacht PACIFIC are pending from Lurssen Yachts. Lurssen Yachts has also launched the 124.40 metre yacht Crystal, the 87.20 metre Phoenix 2 superyacht as well as the 60 metre Solemates in 2010.

Willpower Motor Yacht is an all-aluminium hard chine vessel with the ability to reach a maximum speed of 31 Knots powered by two MTU 16V 4000 M90 diesel engines. Styled by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects: “Her sleek and elegant lines are particularly attractive in this Super Jet black hull.”

Her interior designer, Gabriel Bernardi of London Interior, who conceived a timeless elegant décor for superyacht Willpower, explains: “My inspiration for this interior and most of my interiors in general, is this incredibly sophisticated era between the two world wars, where style and entertainment took position over outward displays of wealth. Craftsmanship, style, beauty and above all charm were important ingredients to life and people had an aesthetic appreciation and were rarely vulgar. The boat has been built and fitted out with the family’s comfort in mind, and as such every effort has been made to achieve a finish and level of comfort way above standard boat-building specifications. In place of the standard, fixed joinery, handmade, free-standing furniture has been used, all made by British cabinet makers, using traditional techniques.”

Superyacht BISCUIT is a 30 meter flying bridge yacht as restyled by Filippetti Yacht shipyard and Hot Lab Studio. The Italian shipyard Filippetti Yacht and Hot Lab Studio have created a new cooperation and settled with the refitting and restyling of a 30 meter flying bridge motor yacht BISCUIT, a one-off yacht with planning hull and two CAT engines of 1,850 HP each. The first sea trials of ‘Biscuit 95′ yacht, M/Y 30 meters, a one-off yacht committed to the shipyard Filippetti Yacht and Hot Lab Studio.

Yacht Biscuit 95

Yacht Biscuit 95

The construction of motor yacht ‘Biscuit 95′, initially assigned to a shipyard in Calabria – Italy, was subsequently entrusted to Filippetti Yacht in Mondolfo (PU), where the yacht was delivered in January 2010 to be refitted and completed. Filippetti Yacht was involved in the construction of the superstructure, painting and assembly of all components of the boat: engines and steels up to the whole furniture.

For the interior design, Hot Lab Studio has provided a constant and valuable advice with the aim to give the yacht an elegant and refined style. M/Y Biscuit 95′ will have two decks and a sunbathing area. On the lower deck there are two twin staterooms, the VIP and the master cabin, each fully equipped. Also on the lower deck, the crew area has been designed to comfortably house four crew members.

A stunning full-beam master stateroom matches a mix of dark woods with fair leather and steel. On the main deck the brightness of the staterooms is highlighted by fair colors on walls and on ceilings. The living area is spacious and comfortable, with a bar and an office corner. A big L-shaped sofa and two armchairs by Moroso are present in the layout. The dining area is detached and composed by a ten-person capacity table designed by Saarinen, with small armchairs by Moroso.

A wine cellar is also present. The galley and the crew living area are juxtaposed. The galley is a synthesis of pragmatic use of the space and elegance. Gaggenau components are fully included in the interior layout of the galley: two refrigerator-freezers, 90-mm induction hobs, microwave and 90-cm electric fridge, icemaker, washing machine and coffee machine. A crew mess, equipped with TV and housing up to four members, is also present.

The flying bridge has been conceived for relax and outdoor leisure: wet bar, wash basin, grill and refrigerators. At starboard there are two sofas. Each sofa has been studied for a different use: the former can be used as dining area and includes a teak table for twelve people designed by Hot Lab; the latter, ‘L’ shaped, can be convertible in a spacious sunbathing area. A second cockpit and two chaises lounges are the final touch to the furniture on the sun deck.

Superyacht ‘Biscuit 95′ will be officially launched on July, 20 in Fano, where it will continue for a long cruise in the Mediterranean which will lead her to Cannes in September 2010.
