Kha Shing, the superyacht yard based in Kaohsiung, Taiwan that designs and builds the Monte Fino range of motor yachts, has announced that it has upgraded its facilities to allow it to build yachts up to 44 metres (144 feet) in length. This is the final stage of a $20 million, two year investment programme that has included adding another 15,000 square metres to the existing facilities and the building of two additional sheds.
“In common with other yards in our industry we have seen growing interest in the 40m plus end of the market,” commented Nigel Stevens of Monte Fino Europe. “With the Far East experiencing expanding domestic demand as well as interest from European and European clients looking to take advantage of our competitive cost base, this enhancement of our capabilities is a logical and timely step.”
Currently the length of the largest Monte Fino built to date stands at 37 metres, but the Monte Fino sales team is optimistic that this will soon be exceeded. “Our model range has been transformed over the past two years, “continues Nigel Stevens, “with the addition of the 85 ft Eco‐yacht and the more sporty S‐range, and we are currently finalising the first of yet another new line which we look forward to announcing shortly.”
One of the oldest and most respected yards in the region, Kha Shing has built over 1000 yachts over its 35 year history and now focuses on the construction of large custom and semi‐custom motor yachts.
