Genoa shipyard Tankoa Yachts has announced that the shipyard’s 80m/262ft superyacht HULL S801 is nearing completion. Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, and featuring a design by Francesco Paszkowski, the S801 heralds Tankoa Yachts’ entry into the mega yacht market and the platform will be used for future hulls ranging from 80-88m.
For the exterior styling, Francesco Paszkowski was inspired by the sailing yacht Amerigo Vespucci and created sweeping vertical lines for a sense of suspension and greater height between each deck. The engineering, technical specification and on board systems are also entering the final stages.
Tankoa Sales Director Michel Karsenti commented on the styling of HULL S801:
“From the early stages of the project, the plan was to introduce a different approach to the market: In recent times we’ve seen a number of yacht designs that followed popular trends, only to look obsolete after just a couple of years. This project is very different.
“Our aim is to create something radically new based on the elegant design language of a classic sailing ship. The result will certainly be exciting but also timeless – an important consideration for any discerning owner looking to maximise the resale value of a valuable investment.”
Concept images show a voluminous swimming pool on the main deck aft with a stern-side glass wall. Broad sunpads are placed either side of the swimming pool and beneath the upper deck overhang are two separate seating areas.
Above, the upper deck places a grand alfresco dining table in the shade while two L-shaped sofas take in the sunlight and the views from the stern. On the bow, there is another seating area and a helipad.
The sundeck has exceptional views of the surroundings as guests lounge on the aft sunpads or spend time unwinding in the generous forward Jacuzzi, and the lighting ensures that this space is usable at night as well as during the day.
The S801 has a beam of 13.5m/44ft and a volume of approximately 2,500 GT, the layout is comprised of five decks, within which there are 5 en-suite VIP staterooms that are located forward. The Owner’s apartment on the upper deck consists of a stateroom, two walk-in wardrobes, a sizeable bathroom, and a private massage therapy room, a sauna and a personal studio, however this can be changed to suit each owner’s preferences.
Using a pair of CAT 3516 engines, she is capable of a cruising speed of 15 knots, a top speed of 16.5 knots and a range of 6,000 nautical miles.
Tankoa Yachts has had a number of highly successful launches in recent years, with 70m/230ft motor yacht SUERTE making it to the finals of two awards in 2016 while 50m/164ft VERTIGE won Best Exterior Design 125′-164′(38m-50m) at the World Yachts Trophies 2017.
The secretive HULL S701 is due to make her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2018, while the 50m/164ft hybrid Elettra project known as HULL S502 is due for delivery in spring 2019.
