Taking the latest step in its strategy of global coverage for the superyacht industry,TELEMAR YACHTING -telemar-yachting,the Viareggio-based superyacht electronics company providing Navigation, Communication, Audio/Video Entertainment systems, Computer Integration, Security Systems and Airtime to the world’s superyacht industry, has opened its Americas office in Fort Lauderdale. “This permanent base in the yachting capital of the Americas rounds out our coverage of Asia, the Mediterranean and the Americas,”said Andy Gifford Telemar Yachting’s General Manager. Just off Fort Lauderdale’s 17th Street superyacht centre and near Fort Lauderdale International Airport, the new Telemar Yachting offices at 1831 Cordova Road will be managed by Mark Theissen, Telemar’s Business Development Manager, expanding the company’s presence in the Americas and the Caribbean.
A graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in the USA, Theissen spent his childhood in Croatia and Germany before deciding on a maritime career which included Sales and Marketing roles with Larry Smith Electronics Europe, LSE USA and most recently Imtech Marine Group/Radio Holland. “As a company we are very pleased to have Mark on board,” said Andy Gifford, “I’ve known him personally for several years and with his international background I know he’ll make a great addition to our team.” The new Fort Lauderdale Telemar Yachting office opens on 1 June 2010. It is the third CG Telemar Group office in the USA but the first to be targeted specifically at the superyacht industry.Telemar Yachting also has offices in Viareggio and Ancona as well as in China.
Telemar Yachting is based in Viareggio, Italy. The company supplies and installs audio visual entertainment suites, computer networks and security systems as well as navigational and communications equipment on some of the world’s newest and larges superyachts. Some of the feature yachts that have been worked on include Perini Navi’s recently sold 88m (289ft) sailing yacht Maltese Falcon, Lürssen’s 67m (220ft) motor yacht Oasis, Benetti’s 42m (138ft) Genelle and many more.
