The Innovative Wally WHY yacht project continues development and further improvement of her design as planned following her schedule.
The Wally WHY yacht project focuses on unprecedented stability, unparalleled volume and sustainability. Her design development continues since her successful launch on September 22, 2009 with the introduction of new WHY37x24 and finalization of the engineering and construction plan.
Thanks to the eight months of continuous activity in the designing aspect of the Wally yacht WHY and to collaboration of the commercial department, she is now entering the operating phase as planned.
“Over only eight months WHY generated an exceptional media coverage and produced some very interested prospects” comments Luca Bassani, Wally President and WHY mastermind. “This unprecedented success in the yachting industry shows that WHY is a leading product requiring the best commercial management to capitalise its positioning.”
The Wally WHY mock up (WHY58x38) was constructed in Ancona, Italy as a part of an indispensable intensive R&D program. Having had the possibility to test this state of the art design in real life size, meant that the team was able to point out necessary design features that needed improvement.
There are five main features that the Wally design team improved since the launch of Wally WHY:
The first one is the shape of the Venetian blind sliding roof. The 900 sqm roof made of photovoltaic panels has been changed form a rounded surface to a flat surfaced one. This will allow for more efficiency of the panels and also will provide for the full exploitation of the living areas of the terraces.
The second design feature changed on the yacht WHY is the interior of the Wheelhouse. A new layout has been designed, featuring two guest lounges along with the Captain and the First Officer Cabin.
Third feature is the proportion between interior and exterior volumes of the Upper and Owner decks. This space has been reassessed to further increase the interiors. The new revisited accommodation layout will provide the Owner and his guests two double Owner’s cabins and six guest cabins. In total the yacht will provide for 16 guests.
The improvement of the deck walk-around on the WALLY WHY Yacht is the fourth design feature revisited. The designers have reduced the gradient to 8 degrees max. This result has been obtained by lowering the Wheelhouse deck level of approximately 40cm and by moving the start of the ramp aft.
Fifth important element that was changed during the reassessment of the Wally Why project was the swimming pool. This has been widened by reducing the bulwark and moving slightly aft the helipad.
The new Wally WHY 37×24 yacht has been developed to complete the range. She is offering the same concept, however in a smaller segment.
The hydrodynamics of the 27×24 (37m long and 24m wide) are designed by the renowned Norwegian naval engineer Roar Ramde, Mauro Sculli and Claudio Cicconetti. Roar Ramde is also responsible for the development of the Ramform vessels.
Wally Why 37×24 has the same unique and unbeatable characteristics as the Wally Why 58×38.
From every point of view, whether looking at her design, stability, sustainability or volumes.
The new model boasts three decks and offers accommodation for 10 guests and provides for a crew of 15. The living area on the new Wally Why 37×24 yacht takes up 1,000 sqm. Her target price is between 42 and 46 million Euros.
The complete and comprehensive preliminary technical dossier of the 58×38 is prepared to be submitted and quoted by three selected shipyards, one of them in USA and the other two in Europe. The dossier includes the ProShip and RINA plans.
